The Associate Software Developer is an entry-level role focused on foundational learning, technical skill development, and integration into GuideStone’s software engineering practices. This role is designed for individuals beginning their software development careers, with an emphasis on training, mentorship, and contributing to well-defined tasks within Agile teams.
What You'll Do
Responsible for completing all training and demonstrating competency in the core areas of the C# language, object-oriented principles, and developer processes
Writing C# code using Visual Studio in a feature branch utilizing feature toggles
Writing automated tests for all code changes (except UI code)
Manually testing all coding changes in a local environment
Creating QA test cases and working with the business to aid QA testing
Writing T-SQL to maintain stored procedures, tables, indexes, and views using SQL Server Management Studio
Submitting code changes using Git via Azure
Regularly meeting with the scrum team to prioritize work
Monitoring, tracking, and fixing errors
Using Azure Pipelines to view status of builds and releases
Regularly participates in mentoring and being mentored by other developers within the organization
What You'll Need:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Management of Information Systems
- 0-2 years work experience
- Demonstrable knowledge, understanding, and experience with Object-Oriented programming concepts
- Communicates effectively to technical and non-technical audiences and adjusts messaging accordingly
- Must demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning and a desire to share ideas and solutions with others
- Desire to work in the Microsoft stack of technologies (Visual Studio, SQL Server, Azure, etc.)
- Willing to work in a hybrid office environment (three days in office and remaining days WFA)
- Aptitude to learn complex technical skills and adapt to technology changes
