We are looking for an Associate Scientist for the Sterility and Mycoplasma testing department at Sartorius Stedim BioOutsource. In this role, you will be responsible for performing a range of laboratory activities to support client projects using mainly microbiology testing techniques, complete documentation and ensure GMP compliance at all times.

This position is available for full time on a permanent basis and it is an onsite role at our Newhouse site near Motherwell.
Grow with us – Your Responsibilities
On a daily basis you will be performing laboratory work and a range of techniques related to sterility, microplasma, cell-based assays involving microorganisms handling, bio – burden testing on a wide variety of finished products under sterile and GMP conditions
Ensuring smooth running of laboratory work and assist with stock control eg.: ordering stock, checking materials and reagents are available and within date to perform the work in a timely manner
Preparing media and reagents, perform cell culture and assays
Completing documentation to a defined standard, ensuring traceability of samples, reagents and equipment
Preparing and reviewing documentation including material specifications, SOPs, change controls, risk assessments
Maintaining the laboratory and ensuring compliance at all times to GxP regulations
When performing overtime and gaining further experience, you may be able to expand skillset in learning new methods and techniques, be involved in internal and customer audits, training other operators and supporting Scientists to prepare final reports, and certificates of analysis under the supervision of a Scientist

What will convince us
BSc in a biology or related discipline or HNC in a scientific field
Previous hands – on laboratory experience in a GLP/GMP environment would be beneficial though full – training will be provided
Keen interest working in microbiology related testing
Good communication and written skills and the ability to interact with other departments
Good organizational skills with the ability to multi – task, prioritize and manage own workload
Ability to follow correct procedures and quality standards
Good attention to detail, adaptable and flexible
Ability work independently as well as part of a team
