We are looking for an Associate Sales Director to join our Southeast Asia team in Singapore. In this role, you will be responsible for driving new business across Morningstar's core product offerings, while also expanding and deepening relationships with existing clients.
You will own and develop your sales pipeline through proactive client engagement, while partnering closely with marketing and regional sales teams to convert qualified leads into meaningful business opportunities. Your target clients include asset managers, banks, insurance companies, and other financial institutions across Singapore and Southeast Asia.
We are looking for a commercially driven and self-motivated sales professional who can operate independently, influence stakeholders, and build long-term client partnerships.
You will report to the Sales Team Leader, Southeast Asia. Travel will be required.
Job Responsibilities
- Drive new business development across Southeast Asia, with a focus on building a strong and sustainable sales pipeline.
- Own the full sales cycle, including prospecting, discovery, solutioning, proposal development, negotiation, and closing.
- Expand and deepen relationships with existing clients to drive revenue growth through upsell and cross-sell opportunities.
- Develop a strong understanding of client needs, workflows, and strategic priorities to position relevant Morningstar solutions.
- Partner closely with marketing, product, and client support teams to deliver a seamless and high-quality client experience.
- Collaborate with regional stakeholders to align on go-to-market strategies and share market intelligence.
- Maintain accurate and timely reporting of pipeline, forecasts, and client activity using CRM systems (e.g. Salesforce).
- Represent Morningstar at client meetings, industry events, conferences, and forums across the region.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5+ years of B2B sales or business development experience, ideally with exposure to financial services, fintech, or data solutions.
- Experience with clients in Singapore and Malaysia.
- Proven track record of consistently meeting or exceeding sales targets, with strong new business development capabilities.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex sales cycles and engage with senior stakeholders across client organizations.
- Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to identify opportunities and translate client needs into tailored solutions.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts clearly and effectively.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a regional team environment.
- Experience selling financial data, research, software, or SaaS solutions is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with CRM tools such as Salesforce or similar platforms.
- Strong interest in financial markets, managed investment products, portfolio construction and industry trends.
- Fluent in English; additional Asian language skills are a plus.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
