The Role
About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking an Associate Repo Trader in the Financial Resource Management (FRM) team, working under the direction of senior managers in London.
As a critical member to the team, this role focuses on the Repo and secured funding needs for Wells Fargo's UK broker dealer, US Bank and other legal entities.
The candidate will be expected to:
  • execute repo transactions with external counterparts
  • be able to maintain customer relationships and participate in GMRA and GMSLA negotiations
  • have a strong understanding of repo and other secured funding tools
  • understand the interconnectivity of repo with other financial products, key drivers for using repo and how to maximize asset/liability efficiency
  • be familiar with FX spot and swap execution
  • be aware of regulatory themes related to repo (SFTR, CSDR and others)
In this role, you will:
  • Manage and execute repo transactions to provide funding and short covering for WFSIL and other legal entities / or lines of business that require local access to markets and local expertise
  • Work closely with CIB Multi-Currency Funding and Treasurers on executing liquidity strategies
  • Work with structuring team on bespoke client funding solutions
  • As a subject matter expert work with support teams and provide guidance on all repo-related activities.
Business Support:
  • Work with other business lines (Trading, Sales, Strategy) to provide market colour and pricing advice as required
  • Assist WFSIL, WFS LLC and WFBNA businesses to optimize funding/collateral management requirements
Required Qualifications:
  • Experience in Securities Trading, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • Bachelor's degree or higher, master's degree preferred
  • Capital markets experience, with a focus on all funding mechanisms used in EMEA and APAC
  • Relevant FCA and PRA Certification will be required to perform this role.
  • The successful candidate will be expected to pass relevant exams within a short time frame of being hired.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Technical skills in repo systems; CCPs, third-party vendor solutions
  • Previous unsecured and secured funding experience
  • Strong financial modelling and analytical skills with great attention to detail, accuracy and an appetite towards change management
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work with a demanding team in a pressured environment
  • Microsoft Office; particularly strong Excel, VBA, Python
