What you'll be doing

You’ll be reporting to the Senior Manager, Business Banking, providing new and existing clients with an exceptional client experience to support CIBC’s vision of being a leader in client relationships. As an Associate Business Advisor, you’ll be helping clients meet their immediate and long term business and personal goals by understanding client needs and/or identifying opportunities to further deepen the CIBC relationship and client loyalty. In addition to sales, this role supports clients’ day-to-day business and personal cash management needs by processing transactions, balancing cash holdings according to CIBC policies and procedures. You’ll provide ongoing support to clients in addressing and resolving concerns related to their business and personal banking. The emphasis is on ensuring clients’ business and personal-related investments, financial and credit needs are met by providing a comprehensive business banking offer or by making a formal introduction to the appropriate Imperial Service and Business Banking colleagues.

How you'll succeed

  • Business Development – Manage, either individually or as part of a team, a portfolio of business only or mixed-client (business and personal client) connections where the focus is on deepening the client relationship and addressing both the business and personal needs of the client. Proactively engage in discussions with assigned portfolio, walk-in and other clients to understand client’s immediate financial needs while identifying opportunities to address longer term financial goals.

  • Client Engagement – Focus on each client experience and connect on a personal level to make every interaction meaningful. You will deliver trusted advice and financial solutions to meet client needs and cultivate your network to establish new client relationships.

  • Community Involvement – Proactively participate in community and banking centre events such as business development events, client acknowledgement programs and client appreciation day to build and enhance CIBC presence and gain market share. Build relationships with Centres of Influence (COIs) within the community to generate referrals to CIBC, and connect with both existing and potential clients to identify opportunities for future growth and revenue.

  • Collaboration – Introduce clients to colleagues in Imperial Service to further deepen client relationships and support more complex personal needs and planning. Introduce clients to colleagues in Business Banking to support the business as it grows and meet the corresponding cash management and lending needs as they become increasingly more complex.

  • Digital Advocacy – Promote and demonstrate the use of digital banking options by introducing the client to alternative ways to bank and describe the benefits by assisting the client in using digital options such as ATM, Mobile, Online and SmartBanking.

  • You’re a certified professional: Mutual fund license or successful completion of the Canadian Investment Funds Course by IFSE or Canadian Securities Course through CSI within 3 months of start date is required. The Certificate is Financial Services Advice (CFSA) is recommended.
