As a QA Automation Engineer, you would be working with a team of test engineers at a successful proprietary trading firm. You will work closely with our entire development department to write, maintain and improve new and existing automation scripts. This will have a huge impact on the firm and our software development life cycle. This role is for someone who flourishes in a fast-paced environment, has a strong work ethic, clear communication, and has a strong background in building out reliable automation frameworks. This position will report directly to the QA Manager.
This position will require in person presence in our Chicago office located in River West right next to the Merchandise Mart and convenient to public transportation. This position will be flexible for hybrid once fully onboarded (office presence is required on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays).
What you’ll do:
- Write repeatable, maintainable, scalable and high-performance automation scripts using BDD frameworks.
- Optimize and improve our existing automation scripts.
- Promote testing best practices among all teams within development from design to deployment.
- Identify software application weaknesses and target areas.
What you’ll need:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, or a related field
- 1-3 years of QA experience.
- At least 1+ years of experience building and maintaining automation frameworks.
- Shift left QA mentality where Quality is shared and owned at all SDLC stages.
- Deep understanding of the STLC and how correlates with the SDLC.
- Experience with Test Driven and Behavior Driven Development (TDD and BDD).
- Experience working with C# and Python.
- Experience within Capital Markets is helpful, but not required.
- Strong problem-solving skills and an ability to find, diagnose, and troubleshoot software issues.
- Great communication skills, inquisitive nature, and strong attention to detail.
