Job Summary: 

The Associate Provost for Academic Success is a senior academic leader responsible for advancing student achievement, retention, and institutional effectiveness at Lancaster Bible College. Reporting directly to the Provost, this role provides strategic leadership for academic support operations while fostering a Christ-centered educational environment.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:  

  • Oversees academic support departments – Ally Center, Library, and Registrar’s Office.

  • Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.

 

Physical Requirements:  

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. 

  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Duties and Responsibilities 

  1. Key Performance Indicators.

  • Monitor and respond to key performance indicators related to retention, graduation rate, credit momentum and course success, providing timely, accurate reports.

  • Ensure the monitoring of and responding to KPIs for the Ally Center, Library, and Registrar.

  1. Institutional Goals and Direction 

  • Provide leadership and project management skills for the implementation of institutional goals, including identifying appropriate metrics.

  • Collaborate cross-departmentally on the accomplishment of goals.

  • Develop sustainable processes for the ongoing work of the goals.

  1. Innovation in Academic Support Services 

  • Collaborate with institutional stakeholders to identify and implement innovative practices, technologies, and support strategies that enhance the student academic experience and respond to the evolving needs of learners.

  • Maintain currency with innovative practices and initiatives within higher education, learning from exemplar institutions and practices for LBC’s continual improvement.

  1. Student Academic Success.

  • Utilize data to identify barriers to achievement, evaluate the effectiveness of interventions, and support continuous improvement in academic support services and student outcomes. 

  • Serve on Retention Committee, collaborating with representatives across the institution.

  • Provide oversight into the on-campus advising model, ensuring timely completion of academic requirements and excellent student customer service.

  • Collaborate with the online student success model, ensuring accurate transfer of credits, timely application of life experience credits, and equitable access to academic resources and support services.

  • Oversee the quality and effectiveness of cross-departmental introductory courses (FAS 100, LBC 100).

  1. Student Academic Discipline 

  • Address issues related to student academic discipline for the provost.

  • Support the deans and academic leaders in issues related to academic discipline.

  • Lead the Student Appeals committee, providing timely review of appeals and clear communication.

  • Maintain accurate records and confidentiality.

  1. Compliance & Policy Development 

  • Oversee LBC’s FERPA compliance, understanding, and implementation.

  • Ensure LBC compliance related to student academic issues, including items like student location, student identify verification, ADA compliance.

  • Develop appropriate policies and procedures related to student academic success, in alignment with the policy committee.

  • Collaborate with the Provost Office to ensure timely completion of LBC catalogs and handbooks.

Education and Experience 

  • Minimum of a master’s degree, terminal degree preferred, in higher education, education, or student development.

  • Experience in leading effective teams and projects.

  • 5+ years of professional experience in higher education in a teaching or leadership capacity.

  • Knowledgeable and experienced in accreditation and compliance measures. 

Required Skills/Abilities 

  • Computer proficiency required in Office 365 Products and various technology platforms. 

  • Literate in applying AI in meaningful and ethical ways. 

  • Ability to represent data in a variety of forms. 

  • Strong written and oral communication skills as well as organizational and supervisory skills. 

  • Self-starter, flexible, and able to handle highly confidential matters. 

  • Proven ability to work both independently and in a project management environment; must show evidence of goal-oriented performance. 

  • Attention to long range and short range plans. 

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills; strong attention to detail and accuracy.  

  • Assist in other duties whenever called upon as needed for the good and welfare of the total College ministry.

 

 

Skills Required
