The Associate Professor’s primary role is to teach in their areas of expertise, maintain the integrity of course and instructional programs, and ensure alignment with the University’s mission and vision for the student experience. Faculty are responsible for creating an academic atmosphere of mutual respect and consideration for individual dignity.

This position supports upper-division undergraduate instruction in public policy, governance, and related fields, with particular emphasis on policy analysis, research design, and data-informed decision-making. Responsibilities include teaching advanced courses, mentoring students in applied policy research, supporting capstone and senior seminar experiences, and contributing to curriculum development.

Faculty are expected to incorporate real-world policy contexts into instruction and prepare students for careers in legislative analysis, public policy advising, and executive branch decision-making roles.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

  • Ph.D. in Political Science, Public Policy, Public Administration, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.

  • Demonstrated expertise in public policy analysis, including applied research methods.

  • Experience teaching upper-division undergraduate courses involving research design, policy analysis, and/or data interpretation.

  • Ability to mentor students in substantial research or policy analysis projects.

  • Evidence of effective university-level teaching and ongoing scholarly engagement.

  • Strong quantitative research skills, including statistical or data analysis for policy evaluation.

  • Experience using tools such as R, Stata, SPSS, or similar.

  • Professional experience in legislative, executive, or policy environments.

  • Record of applied or public-facing scholarship.

  • Experience teaching in high-enrollment environments.​
