Trepp is seeking an Associate Product Manager to help shape the future of its data platform and product suite. This role sits at the center of the action — partnering with product, engineering, data science, data operations, QA, and client-facing teams to build reliable, scalable, and accessible data solutions for the commercial real estate and structured finance markets.

You’ll turn business needs and client feedback into products people rely on, help launch new AI-powered capabilities, and keep a close eye on quality and performance long after release. It’s a role for someone who is analytical, detail-oriented, energized by working with technical teams, and genuinely excited about building data products, APIs, and AI-enabled solutions.

What You’ll Do

  • Shape products from idea to impact: Own initiatives across the full lifecycle, from discovery and requirements gathering through testing, release, and post-launch evaluation.
  • Translate needs into clear direction: Turn business needs and client feedback into crisp product requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows, and technical documentation that engineering can build from.
  • Help build what’s next in AI: Partner with engineering and data science to identify and prioritize AI use cases and bring them to life through semantic search, large language models, retrieval-augmented generation, agentic workflows, and Model Context Protocol integrations.
  • Raise the bar on AI quality: Define what “good” looks like for AI-powered features, evaluating output quality, retrieval relevance, accuracy, hallucination risk, latency, cost, security, and real user feedback.
  • Be the connective tissue across teams: Collaborate daily with engineering, data, data science, QA, operations, and client-facing teams to keep initiatives moving and aligned.
  • Champion data you can trust: Dig into the details with strong analytical rigor, keeping a close eye on data accuracy, consistency, and completeness across the platform.
  • Get hands-on with the data: Work directly with SQL, databases, data pipelines, APIs, and other data-delivery tools to understand and improve how data moves through the platform.
  • Juggle priorities like a pro: Manage multiple workstreams at once, spot dependencies and risks early, and drive initiatives to the finish line.
  • Make the complex simple: Communicate clearly across audiences, explaining technical and AI-related concepts in ways that resonate with nontechnical stakeholders and clients alike.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience & education: 2–3 years of experience in product management, business analysis, data, financial services, software development, or a related field, plus a bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience. We welcome candidates with more technical backgrounds: Including developers or engineers looking to transition into product — who bring strong analytical instincts and a genuine interest in product work.
  • Product fundamentals: Some experience translating business needs and client feedback into clear requirements and documentation, and helping guide a project from idea through launch.
  • Curiosity about AI: Familiarity with or interest in AI, machine learning, or generative AI concepts (semantic search, LLMs, RAG, agentic workflows) and enthusiasm for learning how to evaluate and improve AI-powered features.
  • Critical thinking & technical comfort: Strong analytical and problem-solving instincts, along with working knowledge of SQL and a willingness to get comfortable with databases, data pipelines, and APIs.
  • Cross-team collaboration: A collaborative mindset and interest in working closely with engineering, data, data science, QA, operations, and client-facing teams while juggling multiple priorities.
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal skills, with the ability to explain technical and AI-related concepts to nontechnical stakeholders.
  • Nice to have: Experience with commercial real estate, CMBS, or structured finance; cloud and data platforms such as AWS, Snowflake, or vector databases; tools like Jira, Confluence, GitHub, or Postman; or experience evaluating AI/ML models and datasets.
