  • drafting sophisticated and comprehensive estate planning documents, including Wills, DIGTs, SLATs, ILITs, GRATs;
  • developing complex proactive estate tax planning strategies that navigate intricate legal framework and multi-layered wealth transfer structure, ensuring tax efficiency;
  • developing and implementing complex trust modification and income tax planning strategies, including trust decanting, mergers, and nonjudicial settlement agreements;
  • managing trust and estate administration, and drafting trust termination documents;
  • preparing complex estate tax filings, including Forms 706 and 709, which involve payment extensions under Sections 6161 and 6166, GST allocation strategies;
  • conducting legal research and analysis on complex legal issues, involving multi-jurisdictional and/or cross-border tax law.

Must be admitted to the Illinois bar or admitted to the bar of another U.S. state and eligible for admission to the Illinois bar within 2 years of hiring.

Hybrid work schedule permitted. Must work 3 times per week out of the office in Chicago, IL.

The expected pay range for this position is:

$310,000 per year

Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience, location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.  Full time employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus, health insurance with an optional HSA, short term disability, long term disability, dental insurance, vision care, life insurance, Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts, 401K, vacation, sick time, and an employee assistance program.  Additional voluntary programs include:  voluntary accident insurance, voluntary life, voluntary disability, voluntary critical illness and cancer insurance and pet insurance.  Commuter and Transit programs may also be available in certain markets.
