Your New Role

AustralianSuper is the largest active investor on the ASX. The Associate Portfolio Manager will support the Senior Portfolio Manager (Asset Management) in relation to the team’s capital market activity and the management of special situations within the Australian Equities portfolio.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the team’s participation in capital market transactions (IPOs and capital raisings);
  • Working on special situations outside of BAU portfolio management, including:
    • Projects designed to enhance long term value, or to prevent value destruction, in the portfolio;
    • Corporate transactions, which may include take private transactions;
    • Specific governance challenges in the portfolio; and
    • Regulatory or policy consultations and regulator liaison.

You will liaise with investment banks and other external stakeholders, and work closely with internal teams including the Dealing team, ESG, Legal and Compliance teams, as well as the broader Australian Equities team.

This is a permanent role based in Melbourne.


What You’ll Need

  • Extensive experience with listed equity markets gained through an investment, legal or banking background, including participating in capital raisings;
  • Knowledge of the Corporations Law and ASX Listing Rules, including capital raising rules;
  • Strong communication and project management capabilities;
  • Experience in M&A/corporate transactions is highly desirable;
  • Experience advising boards or directors preferred;
  • Demonstrated aptitude for commercial negotiations and investment decision-making;
  • Tertiary qualifications in commercial or legal disciplines, science or engineering;
  • A governance qualification or experience in governance best practice would be viewed favourably.
