Associate, Portfolio Finance - Upcycle

Generate seeks organized and detail-oriented collaborators who are ready to roll up their sleeves. The Associate will be responsible for coordinating with and reporting on two of Generate’s most impactful sustainable infrastructure portfolio companies in the circular economy and renewable fuels sectors. The position will sit at a critical information and process juncture between these portfolio companies and Generate’s Investments, FP&A, Treasury, Capital Markets and Operations teams, and will need to further the development and implementation of best in class processes and reporting on our existing and upcoming investments in this space. In this role the Associate will additionally be expected to support ad-hoc analysis related to these investments and support project financings and ongoing loan compliance that Generate may be leading in collaboration with the portfolio companies. Given these responsibilities the Associate will help drive our portfolio companies to forecast and achieve operating budgets and ensure the predictable operating performance of these investments.

What you will be doing at Generate Capital as an Associate, Portfolio Management:

• Lead budget forecasting on both mature and scaling lines of business within the waste-to-value investment umbrella
• Manage portfolio company team counterparts to establish regular and accurate financial forecasts and financial compliance
• Support portfolio company project financings and ongoing compliance and maintenance of the financing facilities
• Support transaction workstreams through data room preparation and coordination with internal and external parties to ensure timely and accurate third party deliverables
• In conjunction with FP&A, adapt, audit, and maintain financial forecasts including Excel models for Upcycle portfolios and associated assets and financings
• Diligence funding requests and work with Treasury to manage wire processes
• Measure and report to management progress and forecasts against Generate’s key performance indicators
• Coordinate with FP&A, Accounting and Treasury departments including execution communication and ongoing requests/reconciliations
• Support the Generate Investment team on quarterly investment updates
• Work with Generate’s Data & Technology team to contribute to the development of information systems related to the above

Candidate qualifications & core characteristics:

• A demonstrated passion for, or commitment to, our mission
• Adept at working independently in a high-growth and/or fast-paced environment with a dynamic set of responsibilities
• 2-4 years of relevant work experience, including but not limited to structured investments, financial planning & analysis, accounting, asset management, audit or finance
• Ability to audit, evaluate, adapt and, with assistance, build cash and GAAP financial models for infrastructure assets, preferred equity instruments, and debt instruments
• Experience with circular economy, energy transition, composting and anaerobic digester assets and business models strongly preferred
• Strong proficiency in data analysis in Excel and PowerPoint
• Experience communicating thoughtfully to identify constructive solutions and to support the execution of cross-functional projects
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, including empathy, intuition, and listening as well as strong writing, editing, and basic design skills.
• High level of integrity, self-awareness and humility, with excitement about confronting uncomfortable situations or new challenges

Generate’s compensation packages are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.  Salary decisions take into account a wide variety of factors including, but not limited to: skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, geographic location, and other business and organizational needs. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is $115,000 - $135,000. In addition, the compensation package may include a discretionary bonus and other benefits, including health care benefits, retirement benefits, benefits permitting paid days off (including sick leave, parental leave, and paid time off or vacation benefits), and other benefits that must be reported for federal tax purposes.  It is not typical for an individual to be hired at the top of this range.
