The Boeing Defense Air Dominance Division Systems Safety & Mission Assurance organization is looking for an Aircraft Safety Engineer to join our US Navy Unmanned MQ-25 Stingray program in Berkeley, MO.
Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Associate (Level 2) or Experienced (Level 3) Aircraft Safety Engineers.
As an aircraft safety engineer, you will be responsible for working closely with other engineering disciplines to assess aircraft hardware/software/firmware design to identify all potential safety hazards and propose solutions to reduce or eliminate hazards to ensure product safety and customer mission success. Work scope includes safety hazard analysis/mitigation with issues identified during manufacturing and flight testing of our aircraft.
We are looking for individuals with a strong background in aircraft systems or Avionic / Software. Enthusiastic and highly collaborative engineers with a passion for technical details in both hardware and software. Experience in MIL-STD 882, JSSSEH, DO-178/DO-254 standards is highly desirable.
Ideal candidates are someone with aircraft design including hardware and software experience, and strong critical thinking skills. Someone that works well in a team environment, ability to apply Seek, Speak and Listen approach to effectively connect and build relationship with teammates and customers.
Primary responsibilities:
- Leads defining and validating safety, mission success, and airworthiness; provides support incorporating into designs, operations, and procedures.
- Monitors program execution activities
- Independent risk and technical integrity assessments
- Assistants with anomaly and failure reviews, and their resolution
- Monitors mission success events and reporting to Division MA Leader
- Assists the program with establishing preplanned Mission Assurance Independent Reviews (MAIRs) to provide assurance of product integrity, work-flow compliance and mission readiness of the program products
- Assists the program in Development Excellent (DevEx) independent reviews and risk reduction activities
- Initiates and chairing special attention MAIRs, to ensure product integrity and mission success.
- Ensures adequate independence is present in MAIR teams by identifying and selecting subject matter experts from sources external to the program, or external to the scope of the review, with the concurrence of the Mission Assurance Division Leader•
- Organizes & Executes Flight/Test Mission Assurance Readiness Review (F/TMARR)
- Supports Boeing Enterprise Root Cause/Correct actions (eRCCA) on high severity technical failure to determine root causes and solutions for prevention of recurrence•
- Provides an independent and proactive conduit for program personnel to raise questions and concerns related to risks to mission success and product safety
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience):
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
- Level 2: 2+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to travel 10-20% of the time
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills and Experience):
- Level 3: 5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience conducting a Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) associated with a complex technical issue
- Full-time aerospace industry experience with Flight Controls, Flight Controls software, or Mechanical/Hydraulic Systems
- Experience working with Quality and/or Safety Corrective Action/Preventative Action, Root Cause Corrective Actions

Summary Pay Range:
- Associate (Level 2): $88,400 - $119,600
- Experienced (Level 3): $107,100 - $144,900
