The Boeing Defense Air Dominance Division Systems Safety & Mission Assurance organization is looking for an Aerospace Systems Safety Engineer to join our F-15 Fighter programs in Berkeley or Hazelwood, MO. We are hiring to support our growing portfolio of domestic and international customers.
Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Experienced (Level 3) or Senior (Level 4) System Safety Engineers.
As a member of the Safety engineering organization, you will have the opportunity working directly with our customers & other program teammates including systems engineering, software engineering, mission systems, platform systems, flight engineering, production and flight testing.
As an aircraft safety engineer, you will be responsible for working closely with other engineering disciplines to assess aircraft hardware/software/firmware design to identify all potential safety hazards and propose solutions to reduce or eliminate hazards to ensure product safety and customer mission success.
Work scope includes safety hazard analysis across development, modification and operational phases of our fighter jets. Senior members will also participate in investigation of in-service fleet safety issues including in-flight emergencies, mishaps and near-misses.
We are looking for individuals with a strong background in aircraft systems design and operations. Enthusiastic and highly collaborative engineers with a passion for technical details in
both hardware and software or hazardous material management. Experience in MIL-STD 882, JSSSEH, DO-178/DO-254 standards is highly desirable.
Ideal candidates are someone with aircraft design experience and strong critical thinking skill. Someone that works well in a team environment, ability to apply Seek, Speak and Listen approach to effectively connect and build relationship with teammates and customers. Strong written and oral communication is also an important attribute we are looking for
Primary responsibilities:
- Leads defining and validating safety, mission success, and airworthiness; provides support incorporating into designs, operations, and procedures.
- Creates and maintains aerospace safety and mission assurance tools and processes.
- Documents safety analysis, hazard mitigation, validation and verification activities in compliance with relevant customer and regulatory safety standards.
- Establishes global safety advocacy strategies, training, tools, and methods.
- Executing system and airplane level analyses (e.g., Aircraft or System Functional Hazard Assessment (AFHA/SFHA), Common Resource Analysis, Multi-Functional Fault Tree Analysis (MFTA), Functional Design Assurance Level (FDAL) , Common Mode Assessment (CMA), Particular Risk Analysis (PRA), and Zonal Safety Analysis (ZSA).
- Providing safety design and analysis expertise to program stakeholders and leadership
- Developing certification strategies for systems and airplane level safety issues.
- Representing BSG-C in trade studies, coordination of safety analyses, and functional integration assessments.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience):
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
- Level 3: 5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- 3+ years of experience in aerospace systems or structures
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills and Experience):
- Level 4: 9+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience in airplane systems design and/or analysis (e.g. flight controls, hydraulics, avionics, fuels, etc.) and/or systems integration
- Experience working with safety analyses such as Risk Assessments, Functional Hazard Assessments (FHA), Fault-tree Analysis (FTA), etc.

Summary Pay Range:
- Experienced (Level 3): $107,100 - $144,900
- Senior (Level 4): $131,750 - $178,250
