Associate Midwifery Unit Manager (Birth Suite and Postnatal)

Part-time fixed-term position (0.8 FTE)

About the Role:

Our Maternity department is supported by a multidisciplinary team, including midwives, registered nurses, and lactation consultants, working together across 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. ​

As the Associate Midwifery Unit Manager (AMUM) for the Birth Suite and Postnatal unit at Cabrini Malvern, you will collaborate closely with the Maternity Services Manager and the clinical management team to provide strong, effective leadership. Your role will involve promoting excellence in clinical practice and supporting the strategic direction of the Maternity department.​

This is a fixed-term maternity leave position, with scope for ongoing employment .

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and operational direction to the Birth Suite and Postnatal teams.​

  • Coordinate and oversee the delivery of patient care, ensuring it aligns with Cabrini's standards and values.​

  • Implement and monitor hospital policies, procedures, and protocols.​

  • Hold accountability for the ward in the absence of the Maternity Services Manager.​

  • Foster a collaborative and supportive environment for staff development and patient care.

About You:

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Registered Midwife with:​

  • At least two years of experience in a leadership or similar role.

  • Demonstrated clinical and leadership skills.​

  • Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Midwife.

  • A current Working with Children Check.​

  • Commitment to quality patient care and outcomes.​

  • Ability to work within the Mission and Values of the organisation.​

  • Flexibility and a positive attitude.​

  • Attention to detail.​
