Perform heavy-duty mechanical repairs and preventive maintenance on industrial recycling equipment, conveyors, dryers, pumps, piping, heating systems, and boilers. Troubleshoot breakdowns, inspect equipment using vibration and temperature checks, fabricate minor parts, weld stainless steel, and safely handle heavy components with rigging equipment. The role requires rotating shifts, emergency on-call availability, and work in hot, humid industrial environments.

Key Responsibilities
Routine Mechanical Repairs
  • Perform heavy-duty repairs on crushers, shredders, and granulators, including precision blade setting and rotor balancing
  • Replace and align conveyor belts, rollers, and pulleys to prevent tracking issues and material spillage
  • Inspect and repair high-speed centrifugal dryers and friction washers, focusing on bearings, seals, and screens
Preventive Maintenance (PM)
  • Execute daily lubrication schedules, including greasing bearings and checking gearbox oil levels
  • Monitor corrosion and erosion on stainless steel tanks and agitators caused by caustic chemicals
  • Conduct vibration and temperature checks on motors and pumps to identify potential failures proactively
Piping & Fluid Systems
  • Maintain water and chemical piping networks, including valves, gaskets, and seals
  • Troubleshoot and repair centrifugal pumps used for water circulation and sludge removal
  • Support maintenance of steam/heating systems for hot-wash tanks, including valves and heat exchangers
Emergency Troubleshooting
  • Respond quickly to line stoppages to clear jams and resolve mechanical breakdowns
  • Diagnose root causes of abnormal noise, vibration, or overheating using appropriate tools
  • Perform basic boiler maintenance and support related systems
Technical Skills & Tool Proficiency
  • Machine Shop Skills: Basic knowledge of lathe, milling, and drilling for minor part fabrication and modification
  • Welding: Proficient in TIG/MIG welding, especially for stainless steel (SS304/SS316)
  • Rigging: Skilled in safely operating hoists, cranes, and forklifts for handling heavy components
  • Precision Measurement: Experienced in using calipers, micrometers, and dial indicators for alignment and accuracy


RequirementsEducation
  • ITI / Vocational Certificate or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
Experience
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in a heavy industrial environment
  • Experience in Recycling, Cement, Mining, or Chemical plants preferred
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to handle heavy components and equipment
  • Comfortable working in hot and humid environments
  • Capable of climbing stairs and ladders frequently
Work Schedule
  • Willingness to work in rotating shifts, including nights and weekends
  • Availability to respond to on-call emergency maintenance situations
