Flutterwave was founded on the principle that every African must be able to participate and thrive in the global economy. To achieve this objective, we have built a trusted payment infrastructure that allows consumers and businesses (African and International) make and receive payments in a convenient borderless manner.

The Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented, analytical Market and Strategic Research Specialist for a 6-month contract to lead critical research and longitudinal data synthesis for brand storytelling initiative(s). In this role, you will analyze multi-year market trends, structure platform metrics, evaluate historical datasets, and gather real-world stakeholder stories to showcase our market presence and long-term economic footprint.

If you excel at digging into historical data, conducting qualitative interviews, evaluating broad market dynamics, and turning raw numbers into compelling, publication-ready reports and visual decks, this role is for you.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Longitudinal Data Aggregation & Analysis: Pull, clean, structure, and analyze multi-year historical datasets from internal systems (CRM, platform logs, survey archives) alongside external benchmarks to track growth metrics and operational evolution.
  • Retrospective & Market Research: Conduct desk research and macroeconomic assessments to contextualize internal performance and track long-term trends against broader fintech, payments, and regional economic shifts.
  • Mixed-Methods Stakeholder Research: Design and deploy user/partner surveys, conduct structured qualitative interviews (e.g., with merchants, partners, and key stakeholders), and draft deep-dive impact case studies.
  • Cross-Functional Coordination: Act as the operational research hub — collaborating with Data, Operations, Strategy, and Marketing teams to gather internal data inputs and validate historical findings.
  • Reporting & Visual Storytelling: Translate research into clean presentation decks, executive summaries, data dashboards, and comprehensive analytical reports that clearly communicate long-term outcomes to internal leadership and external stakeholders.

Required competency and skillset to be a waver:

  • Experience: 2–4 years in market research, economic analysis, business intelligence, fintech/payments research, or management consulting.
  • Research & Analytical Skills:
    • Strong proficiency in quantitative analysis (data cleaning, working with messy or multi-year datasets, tracking growth metrics over extended time horizons).
    • Demonstrated qualitative research expertise (conducting interviews, writing case studies, thematic coding).
  • Tooling Mastery: Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills (pivot tables, formulas, data modeling), survey tools (Typeform, SurveyMonkey, or Qualtrics), and presentation tools (PowerPoint, Google Slides, or Canva).
  • Visual Storytelling: Exceptional ability to turn dense, complex spreadsheets into simple, engaging visual charts and cohesive narrative reports
  • Communication: Exceptional written and visual storytelling abilities — ability to translate dense tabular data into clear, engaging visual charts and cohesive narrative reports.
  • Organization: Self-directed project manager with strong tracking skills to coordinate multiple research tracks under tight 6-month timelines.
  • Market Context: A solid understanding of African fintech, digital payments, and emerging market dynamics is an added advantage.
