The Position
Leads all aspects of the Political Action Committee and grassroots advocacy program, including the development and implementation of the engagement strategy, conceptualizing and creating all associated key assets, and all administrative duties associated with operating a PAC. Ensures all PAC and grassroots activity aligns with federal government affairs team priorities and coordinates with state government affairs team as appropriate. Supports the federal government affairs team lobbying efforts through research, development of hill-readiness materials and planning advocacy events with NNI employees.
Relationships
Reports to the Executive Director, Federal and State Government Affairs. Interacts with internal parties as appropriate, including board/committees such as those related to the PAC, and external parties, including consultants working for Novo Nordisk Inc. (NNI), trade associations, law firms, vendors and other entities. Interacts with various people internally, including those involved in forming NNI's positions on public policy issues. Position will be based in the Washington, D.C. office.
Essential Functions
- Manage all aspects of the Novo Nordisk Political Action Committee, including but not limited to:
- Managing Novo Nordisk PAC Board of Directors, including hosting onboarding sessions with new Board members and developing associated training content, hosting at least (3) PAC Board meetings each year, communicating key updates as appropriate and ensuring engagement with the PAC Board
- Develop and maintain a strategic PAC budget to ensure that the PAC is giving in line with the Board's direction ensuring lobbyists budget adherence
- Ensure PAC is compliant with all FEC and state guidelines, monitoring updates to the law
- Develop PAC recruitment strategy to increase employee awareness and participation with the PAC, including creation of messaging materials and collateral, hosting recruitment events, and representing the PAC internally
- Represent the PAC externally through work with industry peers
- Coordinates with federal and state team on fundraising events
- Manage all aspects of the grassroots advocacy program, including but not limited to:
- Develop and execute federal and state-level grassroots action alerts as needed, working internally on the production and approval of the alerts
- Update and maintain internal and external facing grassroots engagement websites
- Manage employee grassroots ambassador program comprised of NNI employees from across the U.S., ensuring advocates are trained properly and represent NNI appropriately at in-district meetings with Members of Congress and their staff
- Coordinates as appropriate with outside organizations, patient groups, and other stakeholders as appropriate
- Manage all federal lobbying compliance requirements, including quarterly LD-2 and semiannual LD-203/HLOGA reporting
- Provide creative direction & produce original materials for members of the Public Affairs Team, including documents, slide decks, and one-pagers - often under tight deadlines
- Lead PRB coordinator for Public Affairs Team, liaising with internal teams to ensure compliance with PRB requirements and timely approval of resources
- Represent Public Affairs Team within Novo Nordisk to develop engaging, relevant meeting & training programs
- Drive internal communication streams to increase visibility and integration of revolutionized PA team within NNI
- Coordinate with Vice President of Public Affairs on special projects, as requested
- Liaises with relevant PAC and grassroots vendors as appropriate
- Develops NNI advocacy communications for use in lobbying activities, grassroots, and employee engagement
- Engages in projects such as research and drafting memos and other documents related to public policy and industry issues as assigned

Physical Requirements
10-20% overnight travel required.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree is required; an advanced degree is preferred; relevant experience may be substituted for degree, when appropriate
- Policy environment experience is preferred
- 5+ years of experience in federal legislative or public policy making activities required
- An understanding of healthcare, pharmaceutical, and biotechnology industry issues is preferred
- Must have strong written and oral communication skills
- Must be proficient in power point or other slide deck presentation development
- Must have the ability to work under tight deadlines, with little or no supervision required
- Must be results-focused with a prior track record of success
The base compensation range for this position is $97,000 to $157,000. Base compensation is determined based on a number of factors. This position is also eligible for a company bonus based on individual and company performance.
Novo Nordisk offers long-term incentive compensation and or company vehicles depending on the position's level or other company factors.
