ROLE OVERVIEW
This role will manage the utility interconnection application and incentive process for solar and battery storage projects across the nation. As the primary point of contact with utilities, this position will streamline utility communications and internal reporting, ensuring projects move forward expeditiously.
Pivot Energy is in an exciting growth period and is looking to expand its C&I pipeline by developing an interconnection and incentive process that is scalable for the diverse markets in which we operate. This is a position with tremendous growth potential that involves working across multiple teams. The individual hired for this role must be organized, collaborative, and goal-oriented.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create scalable process – Create a process for regular communication with utility partners, as well as timeline and status reporting to the Pivot internal team members. Suggest process improvement, such as better software utilization.
- Interconnection Applications and Incentives
- Submits interconnection applications and tracks routine milestones under supervision, escalating discrepancies and timeline issues to senior staff as needed.
- Accurately enters and maintains data using tools like Excel and Smartsheet, initially with guidance and increasingly with autonomy.
- Follows established auditing procedures and participates in basic quality control reviews. Independently manages application records and milestone statuses across multiple projects or markets.
- Ensures portfolio dashboards and tracking sheets are current and accurate. Verifies payment transactions and milestone statuses with finance and project teams.
- Escalates issues when timelines appear at risk or when information is missing. Updates trackers (e.g., Smartsheet, Excel, Salesforce) with milestone completions and payment status.
- Collaborates with development, engineering, and finance to maintain real-time visibility into progress and risks.
- Communicates proactively with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment with project timelines.
- Ensures payment amounts and application formats align with utility instructions.
- Communicates directly with utility contacts to clarify procedural updates.
- Prepares draft summaries or entries for internal documents under supervision.
- Leads regular email or verbal updates on portfolio status, risks, and key decisions.
- Adapts communication approach to support the preferences and needs of different stakeholders to support reaching decisions
- Takes ownership of assigned tasks and offers support to colleagues to meet team goals
- Builds and maintains collaborative relationships across the team and organization
- Tests ideas; experiments, prototypes, or pilots to validate assumptions and identify potential flaws
- Iterates on and improves solutions over time
- Demonstrates proficiency in data privacy and security practices, including an understanding of the importance of data privacy and security.
- Possesses proficiency in tools commonly used for data tasks, such as Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, or other entry-level data visualization tools necessary for the position.

- Database of Interconnection and Incentive Requirements
- Apply utility and incentive requirements, including document and timeline requirements for specific utilities and incentive programs.
- Maintain database of utility tariffs, interconnection manuals, net metering requirements, utility service manuals, filing resources, capacity/line resources, utility points of contact, program approval timelines, and general interconnection application/study fees
- Learn – Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and participating in professional societies

PREFERRED COMPETENCIES
- Industry Experience: Minimum of 2 years' experience in electrical infrastructure engineering, with a focus on utility coordination and load interconnection.
- Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of electrical investor-owned utilities and grid interconnection processes.
- Utility Coordination Skills: Proven experience navigating utility processes to secure interconnection points.
- Knowledge of interconnection application, net metering, and incentive processes. Experience interacting with variety of utilities across the country
