The Associate II, Portfolio Management supports the investment team through trade execution, client relationship management, research activities, and comprehensive reporting across equity and fixed income portfolios. This role includes discretionary investment authority for assigned accounts with expectations for expanded responsibilities throughout the year. The position balances investment professional responsibilities of client management, trading, and research with operational support functions. This role includes clear expectations for expanding responsibilities including:
• Increased account management responsibilities
• Enhanced analytical and presentation duties
• Greater involvement in Investment Committee processes
• Expanded client-facing activities
• Potential shift in time allocation toward investment professional activities as operational efficiency improves

About This Role:

 

Portfolio Management & Investment Discretion

  • Manage investment accounts with trading authority within established guidelines and risk parameters
  • Execute investment decisions including trade timing, security selection, and portfolio rebalancing
  • Exercise discretion on cash management strategies, including raising cash in accounts and determining optimal sources
  • Expected to assume responsibility for additional accounts throughout the year
  • Make independent investment decisions within established guidelines and risk parameters

Trade Execution & Operations

  • Execute equity and fixed income trades with accuracy and timeliness
  • Troubleshoot and resolve operations and systems issues across multiple platforms (Axys, Moxy, Genesis, Black Diamond, etc.)
  • Maintain operational efficiency and system integrity

Client Relationship Management

  • Manage a small portfolio of client relationships
  • Communicate investment information and updates directly with clients
  • Generate monthly performance reports, style tilts, look-throughs, and USCCB compliance checks
  • Produce quarterly performance reports for assigned clients
  • Support client communication and service needs

Research, Analysis & Presentation

  • Conduct ongoing research for the Tower Select strategy
  • Analyze investment opportunities and market trends, presenting findings to the investment team
  • Expected to expand analytical and presentation responsibilities throughout the year
  • Prepare information and materials for the formal CCB Investment Committee
  • Prepare weekly bond purchase reports for Portfolio Managers detailing purchases from the previous 7 days
  • Generate ad-hoc reports as requested by the investment team
  • Maintain and update the monthly Guidance List

Performance Reporting & Analytics

  • Monthly: Run fund performance spreadsheets analyzing ETFs and Mutual Funds on the guidance list and distribute to Portfolio Managers
  • Monthly: Prepare and distribute fact sheets
  • Quarterly: Compile strategy trades for the preceding quarter
  • Quarterly: Update the economic review for Portfolio Manager use in client presentations
  • Quarterly: Generate Firm Wide Assets report with detailed breakdowns by Portfolio Manager across various categories, including alternative exposure and duration analysis

Investment Committee Support

  • Prepare materials and information for the CCB Investment Committee
  • Provide data, analysis, and insights to support Investment Committee decision-making
  • Document and communicate Investment Committee guidance as needed

Documentation & Communication

  • Maintain accurate records of all trading activity, investment decisions, and client interactions
  • Support Portfolio Managers with presentation materials and client-facing documentation
  • Ensure timely distribution of reports and updates to stakeholders

Investment Professional Activities (40-50%):

  • Portfolio management and discretionary trading
  • Client relationship management and communication
  • Investment research and analysis

Operational Support Activities (50-60%):

  • Systems and operations support
  • Report generation and distribution
  • Data management and analytics

Technical Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of equity and fixed income securities, including valuation principles and market dynamics
  • Working knowledge of portfolio management concepts including asset allocation, diversification, and risk management
  • Familiarity with performance measurement and attribution analysis
  • Understanding of investment strategies including ETFs, mutual funds, and individual securities
  • Knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements affecting investment management

Systems & Technical Skills

  • Proficiency with portfolio management systems (experience with Axys, Moxy, Genesis, Black Diamond, or similar platforms preferred)
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including financial modeling, data analysis, and report automation
  • Competency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new systems and technology platforms
  • Strong data management and analytical capabilities

The Ideal Candidate for This Role:

 

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or related field required
  • CFA Level I candidate or progress toward CFA designation preferred

Experience

  • 1-3 years of experience in investment management, portfolio operations, or related financial services role
  • Demonstrated experience with trade execution in equity and/or fixed income markets
  • Prior exposure to client relationship management or client service in a professional setting
  • Experience working with portfolio management or trading systems

Compensation:

 

Compensation range (base pay): $69,616.00-$114,867.00

This role may have a specific starting pay within this range.

Final compensation offer to candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon work experience, education, and/or skill level.
