The Role

The Logistics Associate position is responsible for coordinating the successful shipment of large assembled systems. This person will assign putaway locations for inbound materials, help organize shipments into handling units, work with material handlers to move the materials as needed for proper staging, schedule trucks for shipment, and execute transactions in the ERP system to represent these activities. They will need to work closely with the planning, assembly, operations, and engineering teams to ensure orders flow without interruption.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all system shipments by communicating with customers, transportation companies, and sales agents
  • Assign putaway locations for inbound materials,
  • Organize shipments into handling units trackable with pallet IDs.
  • Direct material handlers to move the materials as needed for proper staging
  • Execute SAP transactions to confirm receiving, picking, and shipping.
  • Prepare packing lists, bills of lading, and shipping documents
  • Decide on transportation methods and companies
  • Solve shipping/staging problems
  • Prepare upcoming shipments for readiness with assembly
  • Quote freight costs and shipping options for customers and sales agents
  • Discuss and follow up on import options with customers and sales agents
  • Send general shipping information updates to sales agents
  • Work with suppliers and purchasing on deliveries
  • Any other duties that may reasonably be assigned

Education and Experience Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) with 1-year related experience and/or training (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Knowledge of Word, Excel, SAP and Adobe

Preferred Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • Ability to write simple correspondence
  • Ability to organize and maintain spreadsheets in Excel
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Ability to work in SAP ERP system
