Job Title: Corporate Counsel
Job Description:
Essential Job Functions:
agilon Corporate Counsel, India will assist with:
- Providing legal support for the Company’s corporate functions in India, including employee relations, performance management, drafting employee-related documentation, monitoring and updating HR-related policies; and finance, tax, and financial reporting requirements
- Providing legal support for contracting, including drafting and reviewing vendor agreements; real estate agreements; and corporate transactions
- Coordinating with the Legal and Compliance Operations teams to support contract management and vendor management
- Actively monitoring and staying up-to-date on changes to the regulatory landscape in India and advising the organization on changes that affect the business, including changes across multiple states and union territories in India
- Providing support for the Company’s compliance functions in India, including support for investigations, trainings, and serving as liaison to the Compliance department for activities such as Compliance Week
Other Job Functions:
- Working collaboratively with the Company’s Legal and Compliance functions in the US as well as the India-based business team members, including regularly engaging with and participating in meetings with US-based employees
- Understanding, adhering to, and implementing the Company’s policies and procedures
- Providing excellent customer service, including consistently displaying awareness and sensitivity to the needs of internal and/or external clients. Proactively ensuring that these needs are met or exceeded
- Engaging in excellent communication which includes listening attentively and speaking professionally
- Team player with high level of integrity, professionalism, intellectual curiosity, humility, and willingness to grow
- Prioritizing and leading multiple tasks and responsibilities with agility, efficiency, and an extremely high attention to detail and accuracy in work product
- Exercising leadership, self-initiative, independence, sound judgment and working pro-actively, with minimal guidance and supervision
- Identifying and articulating legal and business risks and support balanced business decision making
- Functioning effectively in a matrix organization, and to work within inter-departmental teams
- Candidate should have experience working with a US-based company that has background in relevant US privacy and security laws, such as HIPAA and FCPA
- Prefer candidate located near the Company’s Bangalore office or who can travel to the offices in Bangalore and Gurgaon on a regular basis (up to 25% of time)
Required Qualifications:
- Law degree from a recognized institute of law approved by the Bar Council of India and active license to practice law in accordance with the requirements of the BCI and/or State Bar Councils
- At least seven years of relevant legal experience at a top-tier law firm or in-house legal department
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with legal and non-legal audiences at all levels of the organization
