Essential Functions
  • Responsible for ensuring the organization's compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Develops and reviews the organization's policies, practices, and guidelines.
  • Assists in protecting the organization's legal interest and maintaining its operations within the scope established by law.
  • Provides counsel to senior leadership.
  • Identifies and analyzes legal issues, drafts key documents, presents clear recommendations to top management, and assures legal compliance.
  • Assists or represents the organization in business negotiations.
    • Additional Responsibilities
      • Provide legal guidance on transactions, regulatory issues, operations, disputes, and investigations
      • Draft and negotiate complex commercial and government agreements
      • Advise on FAR/DFARS, ITAR/EAR, FCPA, and privacy rules
      • Manage outside counsel
      • Partner across teams to manage risk
      • Maintain contract templates and legal processes
      • Develop and review policies and guidelines

      Required Qualifications
      • Required education and experience: J.D. Degree and 10-12 years' experience
      • Critical professional related technical skills; computer skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
      • Other: State Bar membership required
      Preferred Qualifications
      • Knowledge, skills & abilities: Oral and written communication skills. Compliance management. Due diligence. Issue resolution. Legal document review. Legal research. Legal writing. Legal-Contracts review. Litigation case management. Negotiation. Operations management. Regulatory environment. Regulatory compliance. Risk mitigation. Legal advising. Corporate governance. Legal Case Management Software.
      • Other: Prior in-house and government contracts experience strongly preferred
      • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks applicable to aerospace and defense companies, including experience with government contracts and familiarity with FAR/DFARS and related flow-downs and compliance obligations
      Physical Requirements
      • Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.
      • Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.

Skills Required
