This is a remote position and can be located anywhere in the US.
Position Purpose:
Provide legal advice and strategic support to Centene’s commercial health plan business.
- Serves as a lead resource for commercial health plan regulatory matters, including Ambetter Health and Solutions
- Advise business and compliance partners on federal and state healthcare laws, regulations, guidance, and market requirements that impact commercial product lines and programs
- Research, analyze, and interpret complex healthcare regulatory requirements, including but not limited to issues related to ACA/Exchange operations, mental health parity, No Surprises Act, essential health benefits, and broker matters
- Reviews, drafts and negotiates contracts, policies and procedures and related documents
- Provides practical legal guidance to support implementation of new laws, regulatory changes, business initiatives, policies, procedures, and operational workflow
- Manages or supports subpoenas, disputes, and outside counsel engagement as needed
- Partner with Compliance, Regulatory Operations, Product, Clinical, Network, Finance, and other business leadership to identify legal risks, develop practical solutions, and support timely decision-making
- Performs other duties as assigned

Education/Experience:
Juris Doctor (JD) required: 5+ years of experience in the areas of corporate or health law required
1+ years of experience with government contract law, health law and managed care preferred
Knowledge of Medicare and/or Medicaid insurance, state insurance and HMO regulations preferred
Strong legal research, analysis, and writing skills
Demonstrated ability to provide practical, business-oriented legal advice in a complex regulatory environment
Bar Admission and currently in good standing preferred
