The Associate General Counsel – Sourcing is the attorney primarily responsible for managing and directing all aspects of the global sourcing of commodities, parts, sourced finished goods (SFG), and indirect purchasing. [This role will also be primarily responsible for the legal relationship with the company’s joint venture/SFG supplier. This role will have direct responsibility in managing the company’s growth initiatives through acquisition or other means. How You'll Create Possibilities
  • Structure, draft, review, negotiate and provide advice with regard to a wide range of commercial agreements and documents relating to business transactions involving the company, including primary responsibility for contracts supporting the global sourcing of commodities, parts and SFGs,
  • Be the primary legal department liaison between GEA in intracompany sourcing, including with GE Appliances parent, affiliates, and joint venture.
  • Work cross-functionally with sourcing, finance, tax, global trade compliance, technology teams, both domestically and internationally, to identify risks and help implement effective enterprise-wide solutions for the business.
  • Identify and analyze legal issues, create and implement creative solutions in order to allow the company to achieve business objectives within risk tolerances. 
  • Develop materials, help inform, and train employees. 
  • Management responsibility for transactional attorney(s) and/or support staff

What You'll Bring to Our Team
  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school with active bar membership, in good standing, in any US state and ability to gain admission to the Kentucky Bar as in house counsel.
  • 12+ years: Experience practicing law in a law firm and a corporate legal department, primarily in transactional practice that includes significant exposure to supply chain and/or sales, custom and trade regulation (including tariffs) and technology issues
  • Demonstrated understanding of governmental policy development and decision-making processes, including ability to identify and have access to key decision makers, particularly in manufacturing.
  • Commitment to conducting GE Appliances business affairs with the highest integrity, including strict adherence to applicable laws but also in a manner consistent with GE Appliances values, which often go beyond mere legal compliance.
  • Demonstrated ability to be an effective and inclusive leader.
  • Demonstrated orientation towards business growth.
  • Substantive understanding of key business issues and knowledge of finance mechanisms.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to advise GEA personnel.
  • Demonstrated ability to create successful partnerships with business leaders
  • Practical and enthusiastic problem-solver who is confident, flexible and calm and under fire.
  • An ability to quickly prioritize as well as execute while exhibiting a sense of urgency, superb judgment and professional wisdom.

  • Mergers and acquisitions
  • Supply chain and supplier quality
  • International sourcing and/or sales
  • Commercial (UCC) or distribution litigation
  • General liability insurance
  • Credit and/or secured transactions
  • Competition law
  • Commercial law counseling involving consumer products
  • In-house practice in a consumer product or major manufacturing company

Skills Required
