What we’re looking for:
We are seeking a smart, savvy, and business-minded counsel to join our legal team to improve our products and processes, protect against risk, and help lead the company through a time of growth. Reporting directly to our General Counsel, this role will be central in building out the legal function at Arcadia. The Associate General Counsel will be primarily responsible for the legal workflows associated with our Arcadia Platform Business. This includes SaaS contracting and negotiating with sophisticated counterparties; multi-state compliance with data privacy, licensing, cybersecurity, marketing, and other obligations; developing legal process, workflow, and tracking; data and privacy issues around new products; and working with our policy team on legal and regulatory issues across all 50 states.
The ideal candidate is a lawyer who thrives in an environment of change and growth, is excited about the mission of Arcadia and is interested in corporate and consumer law. This individual should be curious, energetic, self-reliant, and able to distill complex problems to provide streamlined, actionable legal advice to an extremely fast-paced commercial business team. This role requires substantive experience negotiating SaaS contracts, IP licensing, and technology transactions.
Arcadia is open to fully remote candidates who are based in the US and employees have access to co-working spaces.

What you'll do:
Transactional: Draft, review, edit, and negotiate contracts with a wide range of individuals, non-profits, and business organizations
Product counsel: Advise the enterprise product team on the design, creation, and deployment of new products and features; participate as a legal advisor on major business transactions; prepare and update standardized terms for our platform and self-service products.
Compliance & Privacy: Assist with the management of compliance program, and help to advise business units on compliance with legal, regulatory, and third party obligations
Fundraising and Strategic Transactions: Provide legal support to the company through potential future rounds of fundraising, acquisitions, and critical partnerships.
Leadership: Lead by example as a member of the legal team to foster a workplace with the highest moral, ethical, and legal standards to deliver an environment that promotes respect, innovation, and creativity; help establish the legal team as a trusted partner and key ingredient to business growth
What will help you succeed:Must-haves:
- J.D. with excellent academic credentials and a state bar member in good standing (D.C. or NY preferred)
- 6+ years of legal practice; a combination of law firm and/or in-house highly preferred
- Extremely practical and business-oriented approach to one's work with strong attention to detail
- Contracts and negotiation expert with subject-matter expertise in SaaS, data and privacy, IP licensing, and/or technology transactions, able to independently draft contracts and manage commercial negotiations;
- Client-service orientation and demonstrated success in handling competing deadlines for multiple internal stakeholders with minimal supervision
- Outstanding judgment and uncompromising professional ethics
- Superior relationship-building & influencing skills; ability to negotiate and collaboratively solve problems with external and internal stakeholders in a way that fosters trust and goodwill and advantages the company for both the short- and long-term
- Demonstrated excellence at assessing risk with a flexible risk tolerance; understanding that our risk-mitigation approach must change quickly as we grow & willing to adapt accordingly
- Comfort working across all departments and job levels
- Ability to handle competing deadlines with minimal supervision
- Ability to advise business teams on a wide variety of matters while shifting frequently between various substantive legal areas
- Willingness to take feedback, learn, and grow; an ethos of continuous self-improvement

Target Annual Compensation Range for this role will be $155,000 to $250,000. There will also be a competitive benefits and equity (bonus if applicable) component to the package. The exact compensation at which this job is filled will be determined by the skills, experience, and location of the qualified candidate.
