We are looking for an experienced lawyer to help navigate this constantly evolving regulatory landscape.
Cloudflare is looking for a lawyer to help lead our response to Cloudflare's most complex regulatory issues, whether they arise from regulatory inquiries or enforcement actions, new legal requirements, or proposed new laws. This individual will handle critical regulatory issues around the globe and will work cross-functionally with subject-matter experts across our Legal, Policy, and Trust & Safety Team, as well as across the broader company. The ideal candidate has the passion to keep pace with a fast-moving docket, the curiosity to dive deep into evolving technology and law, and the strategic vision to navigate novel legal issues with an eye towards protecting Cloudflare and its principles.
In this role you will:
  • Respond to high-stakes regulatory inquiries or enforcement actions;
  • Support the Policy Team in advocacy regarding proposed legislations or regulations related to the Internet and Cloudflare;
  • Evaluate newly enacted laws to determine applicability to Cloudflare's services and guide our Cloudflare's response;
  • Provide support to our Product Legal Team in evaluating regulatory implications arising from new products or services;
  • Support our Go to Market Function in addressing emerging regulatory questions posed by Cloudflare's customers related to the use of our services;
  • Collaborate with legal team members to improve processes, provide training, and ensure business needs are met.

You have:
  • J.D. degree and admitted to practice law in a relevant jurisdiction.
  • 10+ years of relevant legal experience, preferably at a top law firm, in-house at a technology company, or in a government regulatory or enforcement agency.
  • Deep expertise in navigating complex regulatory frameworks, responding to government inquiries, and advising on compliance with new and proposed laws.
  • Experience working on a global scale with a variety of international regulatory regimes.
  • Exceptional ability to work cross-functionally with lawyers and non-lawyers to find practical, effective, and principled solutions.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex regulatory concepts to business leaders and to advocate for the company's position externally.
  • An ambitious and strategic mindset that enables you to work independently and autonomously, but also to exercise good judgment and escalate issues when needed.
  • Flexibility to adapt and thrive in a fast-paced environment, leading with empathy and understanding while embracing diverse points of view.

Compensation
Compensation may be adjusted depending on work location.
  • For D.C. based hires: Estimated annual salary of $249,000 - $305,000

This role is eligible to participate in Cloudflare's equity plan.
