Santander Corporate and Investment Banking is looking for an Associate – Financial Institutions Group (FIG) Coverage – DACH & Nordics Team based out of Frankfurt.
We are seeking an experienced Associate who can make an immediate contribution to the FIG DACH & Nordics franchise. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in client coverage, transaction execution, or related Corporate & Investment Banking activities and will be expected to operate with a high degree of autonomy from day one.
To succeed in this role, you will be responsible for:
Managing day-to-day client coverage responsibilities across a portfolio of financial institutions.
Coordinating complex cross-product transactions and internal workstreams involving Coverage, Financing, Markets, Transaction Banking, Advisory and Risk.
Preparing client presentations, credit papers, financial analyses and strategic reviews independently.
Supporting and participating in senior client interactions, including meetings with C-suite executives.
Acting as a trusted partner to product teams and driving execution across multiple stakeholders and jurisdictions.
Taking ownership of internal processes including credit, profitability, risk management, KYC and onboarding matters.
Contributing actively to business development efforts, client planning and revenue generation initiatives.

Professional Experience
Minimum 3-5 years of relevant professional experience within Financial Institutions Group (FIG) Coverage, Corporate Banking Coverage, Debt Capital Markets (DCM), Structured Finance, Corporate Finance, Leveraged Finance, Financial Sponsors, Markets, Credit Risk, Transaction Banking, or other institutional banking disciplines.
Demonstrated experience covering financial institutions and supporting client relationships, transaction execution, and strategic advisory initiatives.
Ability to independently manage workstreams, coordinate internal stakeholders, and deliver high-quality client materials with limited supervision.
Experience interacting with senior client representatives and managing complex internal approval and execution processes.
Languages
Highly proficient in spoken and written German and fluent in English. Spanish is optional.
Hard Skills
In-depth understanding of debt financing, capital markets, balance sheet solutions, and broader Corporate & Investment Banking products.
Strong financial analysis, accounting, valuation, and credit assessment skills.
Strong understanding of compliance, regulatory, and KYC requirements applicable to institutional banking.
