The Associate Financial Advisor partners with Advisors and Senior Advisors in delivering financial planning and investment solutions to mass affluent clients. This role focuses on client discovery, needs-based recommendations, and deepening relationships through referrals generated within the branches. This role is designed for an individual that is developing advisory skills, client relationship management, and technical knowledge with the goal of progressing to a Financial Advisor role. This individual will be working with mass affluent clients with assets of under $2 million. In addition, the incumbent will lead to increasing responsibility of client relationships, business development, and production over time.
Job Responsibilities:
- Conduct client discovery meetings, from branch referrals, to identify investment, retirement and planning needs.
- Actively engage with branch staff to build trust help identify opportunities, and encourage referrals.
- Support the delivery of proposals for investment recommendations and annuities.
- Periodically communicate with clients to regularly review goals and objectives and reaffirm the appropriateness of the current financial plan as detailed on the IPS.
- Track and follow up on referrals to ensure timely client contact.
- Shadow Advisors and Senior Advisors by participating in client meetings to cultivate a strong working relationship with those clients building trust and establishing a complete understanding of the client’s goals and objectives.
- Gather and analyze client financial data (income, assets, liabilities, insurance and retirement goals).
- Support the development of financial plans covering retirement, investments, tax efficiency, risk management and estate planning basics.
- Assist with portfolio reviews, asset allocation analysis and reviewing rebalancing recommendations coming from the Investment Research Team.
- Become proficient in the custodial and technology platforms that support advisory.
- Maintain accurate client records and documentation in Salesforce.
- Ensure adherence to firm policies, regulatory requirements, and documentation standards.
- Support the mission, strategy, and values of BMTA.
- Additional responsibilities as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors’ degree in business administration, finance, economics or a business-related major is highly preferred.
- Pursue licensing requirements - FINRA Series 65 within 6 months, insurance licensing for Life and Health.
- Pursue CFP completion within two years of hire.
- General knowledge, understanding and application of custodian platforms and investment principles, securities processing and clearing; portfolio and client management systems.
- 1-3 years of experience in a support role, or client facing role, or sales in a financial services firm.
- Strong Microsoft Office 365 skills including Excel, Word and PowerPoint and basic numeracy are required.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based advisory environment, work quickly, multi-task and meet deadlines.
- Must exhibit initiative, and the ability to complete assigned tasks efficiently and with little supervision.
- Must have no disclosures on Form U-4.
- Strong Microsoft Office 365 skills including Excel, Word and PowerPoint and basic numeracy are required.
- Financial Planning and Wealth Management acumen desired.
- General knowledge, understanding and application of custodian platforms and investment principles, securities processing and clearing; portfolio and client management systems.
- Must be able to juggle priorities, be organized and have an adjustable social style.

Salary Range:
$77,390.00 - $127,139.75Individual base pay may vary on additional factors such as the candidate’s experience, job-related skills, relevant education, geographic location, and other specific business and organizational needs.
