Title: Associate, Prudential Risk Manager, Enterprise Risk Management

Job Description

BlackRock’s Risk & Quantitative Analysis (RQA) group provides independent oversight of BlackRock’s fiduciary and enterprise risks. The Enterprise Risk function within RQA leads all aspects of those risks which directly impact the corporate entity (i.e. BlackRock, Inc. and its subsidiaries), rather than the fiduciary risks assumed by funds/clients, such as investment risks and counterparty risks. The team’s focus includes but is not limited to: operational, regulatory, technology, third party, model and market risk.

The Resilience Risk Assessment team within the Enterprise Risk function is responsible for assessing the firm’s prudential risks to ensure the firm’s capital and liquidity resources remain adequate under severe stress.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the development and oversight of the annual capital and liquidity assessment project plans for the in-scope legal entities.

  • Coordinate the Capital Assessment Committee’s meetings, prepare materials, and provide updates to the Committee regarding the project plans.

  • Engage with key partners (e.g. Risk, Finance, Compliance and external consultants) to facilitate project updates to the Committee, progress reports regarding open actions, and other deliverables.

  • Ensure that the capital assessment documents are drafted and reviewed before being recommended for approval to the relevant committees and boards.

  • Conduct the overall quality review of the capital assessment documents, board materials, and other relevant documentation (e.g. regulatory gap analysis, policies etc.).

  • Support the preparation for, and response to, oversight reviews of the capital and liquidity assessment framework (e.g. internal audit and regulatory reviews).

  • Provide support for the development of risk appetite and risk management framework documentation.

  • Produce risk reporting for the Enterprise Risk team, Risk Owners, Committees and Boards.

  • Support enterprise risk capital assessments, including the development and documentation of operational key risk scenarios. Our benefits

To help you stay energized, engaged and inspired, we offer a wide range of benefits including a strong retirement plan, tuition reimbursement, comprehensive healthcare, support for working parents and Flexible Time Off (FTO) so you can relax, recharge and be there for the people you care about.

Development Value

  • Provides an opportunity to develop prudential risk management skills and knowledge within a pre-eminent asset management firm within the industry.

  • With Enterprise Risk spanning all aspects of the business, the role provides a unique opportunity to interact with key collaborators across the firm and learn about BlackRock’s products, services and processes.

What you have:

  • A degree, preferably in Business, Finance, Risk Management, or a quantitative field.

  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify emerging risks, explain risk trends, understand and resolve issues, and communicate results with impact.

  • Computer literate, with strong Excel skills.

  • Integrity combined with high personal and professional standards. A strong commitment to excellence and ability to get a job done in the face of adversity.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate (verbal, written and presentation) across all levels within the organisation.

  • Proactive self-starter, ability to learn quickly and to take initiative. Enthusiasm and energy combined with a clear sense of how to “make it happen”.

  • Ability to work with key stakeholders to develop and implement solutions to reduce risks across the organisation.

  • Working knowledge of risk management and/or regulatory frameworks, e.g. Investment Firms Prudential Regime or Capital Requirements Directive.

  • Good teamwork skills.

You might also have:

  • Experience within financial services and asset management.

  • Understanding of investment products.

What We Do

As the world’s largest asset manager, BlackRock partners with investors around the globe to help them (and those on whose behalf they invest) plan for life’s most important goals – like retirement, home ownership and their children’s education. Our clients range from governments, foundations and other large institutions to those investing on behalf of individuals, including firefighters, nurses, teachers and factory workers.

BlackRock was founded with the idea of creating a better asset management firm — one that was purpose-driven, focused on clients and risk management, and propelled by data and technology. Our breakthrough Aladdin® platform is BlackRock’s technological backbone, helping investors see and manage their whole portfolios in one place – from constructing investments to monitoring risk and executing trades. Used by hundreds of external institutions around the world, Aladdin combines powerful analytics and a common language to help investment teams make faster, more informed decisions across public and private markets. It’s a key part of our business and one of the reasons we’re trusted to manage more assets than any other investment manager today.

At BlackRock, we challenge conventions and raise the bar for what’s possible. We harness technology to unlock new solutions, simplify complexity, and deliver investment strategies that meet people where they are. Whether it’s retirement planning, wealth building or navigating market shifts, we’re here to help clients invest more easily, more affordably and with more choice as we chart a path toward financial well-being together.
