The organization supports a broad range of services across the product and trade lifecycle and plays an important role in the experience of BlackRock’s clients and employees.

T&O Risk and Control operates within the first line of defense and oversees the operational risk management framework. The team works across the operating platform to promote consistent global risk management practices, including risk assessment and mitigation, policies and standards, internal and external audit engagements, event management, and analysis supporting risk reporting.

Your role and impact

The scope of this role also includes the following responsibilities:

  • Support and coordinate regional and global T&O teams in navigating operational risk requirements and internal audits, including leading smaller risk mitigation projects as appropriate.
  • Support and coordinate remediation efforts related to internal controls and help incorporate risk management routines into business processes.
  • Support the development and continuous improvement of risk reporting to increase transparency around significant risks and issues.
  • Collaborate with risk partners and T&O teams to maintain alignment on firmwide operational risk priorities and emerging risks and contribute to a strong risk culture.
  • Support the execution of operational risk assessments and governance routines, identifying emerging risks, control gaps, and opportunities to strengthen the control environment.

Your experience
  • Demonstrated experience in Risk Management, Internal Audit, or a related field, with the ability to apply risk and control principles in a complex operating environment.
  • Proactive self-starter with the ability to work independently, prioritize competing demands, and deliver high-quality outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
  • Intellectually curious and effective at navigating a matrixed organization, collaborating with subject matter experts, and building trusted, long-term relationships.
  • Demonstrated experience working with large data sets, including data analysis and manipulation to draw pragmatic conclusions.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely and summarize complex matters effectively, both verbally and in writing, for stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to think critically and contribute to developing solutions that enhance risk and control activities.
  • Strong attention to detail and a continuous improvement mindset.

What We Do

As the world’s largest asset manager, BlackRock partners with investors around the globe to help them (and those on whose behalf they invest) plan for life’s most important goals – like retirement, home ownership and their children’s education. Our clients range from governments, foundations and other large institutions to those investing on behalf of individuals, including firefighters, nurses, teachers and factory workers. BlackRock was founded with the idea of creating a better asset management firm — one that was purpose-driven, focused on clients and risk management, and propelled by data and technology. Our breakthrough Aladdin® platform is BlackRock’s technological backbone, helping investors see and manage their whole portfolios in one place – from constructing investments to monitoring risk and executing trades. Used by hundreds of external institutions around the world, Aladdin combines powerful analytics and a common language to help investment teams make faster, more informed decisions across public and private markets. It’s a key part of our business and one of the reasons we’re trusted to manage more assets than any other investment manager today. At BlackRock, we challenge conventions and raise the bar for what’s possible. We harness technology to unlock new solutions, simplify complexity, and deliver investment strategies that meet people where they are.
