Job Description:

At Rite-Hite, innovation meets practicality. Our engineers design and deliver custom solutions that keep loading docks safe, efficient, and protected. We’re looking for an Associate Engineer (Mechanical) to support the design and quoting of custom seals and shelter products, helping customers get exactly what they need for unique building and application requirements.

What You’ll Do

As an Associate Engineer, you’ll focus primarily on custom product design and quoting for Rite-Hite’s seals and shelters product line. This role blends mechanical design work, cross-functional collaboration, and problem-solving to turn customer requests into manufacturable, high-quality solutions.

Design & Quoting for Custom Orders

  • Design and develop custom seals and shelters for customer-specific needs.

  • Create and update CAD drawings for quotes, concepts, and manufacturing details.

  • Prepare cost estimates and formal quotations that meet profitability standards.

  • Review and approve drawings, specifications, and parts lists for accuracy.

  • Coordinate with customer service, planning, and production to ensure smooth order flow.

  • Support troubleshooting of mechanical or assembly issues related to special orders.

Cross-Functional Support

  • Work closely with sales, customer service, and regional managers to clarify customer requirements and ensure accurate designs.

  • Provide technical guidance on custom applications and installation considerations.

  • Assist internal teams with understanding special designs and features.

Continuous Improvement & Documentation

  • Maintain organized design and quote documentation.

  • Identify opportunities to standardize or streamline frequently requested custom designs.

  • Participate in meetings and initiatives supporting ongoing engineering improvements.

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent combination of education and experience).

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and mechanical design drafting.

  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience with custom product design or quoting preferred.

  • Basic computer skills (Word, Excel) required.

What You Can Expect

You’ll spend most of your time designing and quoting special-order seals and shelters, working closely with teams across engineering, sales, and manufacturing to ensure every custom solution meets Rite-Hite’s high standards. While some exposure to testing or new product development projects may occur, the focus is on creating and supporting customer-driven designs that make an immediate impact.
