Job Description:
THE OPPORTUNITY
This role supports the Executive Director of the Scholastic en Espanol program helping create and publish approximately 50 – 60 books a year in Spanish that reflect the balanced needs for divisions across the Scholastic organization including Trade, Book Clubs, Book Fairs, Education, and Export.
RESPONSIBILITIES

Translate approximately 20 books a year, maintaining the excellent standards set by the department. Books range in size and complexity from picture books through middle grade and YA novels and include graphic novels as well.

Independently manage the entire eBook process for 50 Spanish titles a year

Support the Departments Editorial Process by participating in all stages of manuscript preparation and book production

Proofread several passes of all projects, ensuring editorial accuracy and that the requirements from outside licensors and creators are adhered to

Manage the metadata for all Spanish titles

Contribute to content planning and strategy

Lend essential administrative help and support

Excellent translation skills, with proficiency in both English and Spanish

Highly organized, a self-starter, with the ability to prioritize workload

Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to pay close attention to detail

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, and Teams

BA or related experience

Experience and Education:
Experience: Demonstrated or strong facility in translation, as well as a general understanding of the publishing process, coupled with detailed administrative skills
