About the Role

Under the guidance of and in coordination with the editorial director of computer science, to further grow an existing proceedings program in computer science in India, the candidate will actively identify opportunities from the market, coordinate systematic outreach to potential conferences and academic societies, work with book authors and conference organizers, society leaders and volume editors to establish the publication cooperation with appropriate Springer proceedings series (LNCS, CCIS, etc.), oversee the proceedings publication process and maintain a sustainable and productive relationship with internal and external stakeholders.   

Responsibilities

• Identify, solicit and evaluate book proposals and conference proceedings proposals for publication in Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) from the computer science research community in India.
• Build and maintain relationships with book authors, conferences organizers, program chairs and with society representatives in India.
• Communicate externally with conference organizers, series editors, and referees through the evaluation process of each publication project, as well as with other computer science editors, as a key coordinator of relevant proceedings series and program.
• Discuss contract terms with the book authors and conference organizers or other representatives of the accepted proposals and determine the suitable choice of series. Answer author questions and navigate the project through to contract signings.
• Liaise internally with other editorial functions, including editorial service, production, marketing and other divisions of the company.
• Coordinate systematic approaches for reach outs in the Indian computer science market, including conference exhibits, campus visits, social media presence, academic events, various marketing tactics and campaigns, etc.

Experience, skills and qualifications

Essential

• Educated to Master’s degree level, preferably in a STEM field
• An affinity with the field of Computer Science and with working with academic communities
• Strong interpersonal, networking, and communication skills are an absolute must
• Two to three years of academic publishing experience is a big plus
• Excellent spoken and written English
• A pro-active attitude and a positive, can-do mentality
• Able to organize and prioritise numerous tasks and be able to work on their own initiative
• Ability to work well within a team, and to work with people at all levels, both within the company and externally
• Strong commercial and presentation skills

• Availability to travel to domestic conferences several times annually as well as internationally, occasionally and as required.
