The Associate Director, SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with SEC regulations. This key position will also be responsible for providing technical accounting expertise, including research and accounting for significant unusual transactions, assisting in internal controls functions, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive financial transparency and compliance.


Responsibilities


SEC Reporting and Financial Disclosures:

 

Lead the preparation and filing of quarterly and annual reports on Forms 10-Q and 10-K, respectively, in accordance with SEC regulations

 

Collaborate with legal, finance, and other departments to ensure accurate and complete disclosure in financial statements and footnotes

 

Stay current on SEC rules and regulations, implementing changes to reporting processes as necessary

 

Develop and maintain robust documentation for significant accounting decisions and financial disclosures

 

Ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial disclosures in external financial statements

 

Technical Accounting:

 

Research, interpret, and apply accounting standards (GAAP) and SEC regulations to complex transactions

 

Assess the accounting implications of new or proposed business activities and provide guidance to ensure compliance

 

Lead the implementation of new accounting standards and updates

 

SOX Controls:

 

Serve as a key liaison with external auditors during the annual audit and testing process, providing support and documentation related to internal controls

 

Assist in ongoing implementation and monitoring of the Company's SOX compliance program

 

Assist in implementing best practices to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the Company’s internal controls, including reviewing documentation and reconciliations and proposing updates as needed

 

 

Other:

Contribute throughout the business on assorted financial and operational projects as needed

 

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field; CPA designation strongly preferred

 

7+ years of experience in public accounting and/or SEC reporting and technical accounting in a public company; experience within the biotech or pharmaceutical industry required

 

Experience with SEC reporting platform Workiva a plus

 

Strong understanding of US GAAP, SEC regulations, and financial reporting requirements

 

Experience with complex accounting issues, including those related to revenue recognition and equity-based compensation

 

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

 

Effective communication and collaboration skills with the ability to interact with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders

 

Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision

 

Self-motivated individual who can proactively identify potential challenges and take the initiative to address them

 

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, including the ability to successfully manage and adapt to shifting priorities, competing demands, and unexpected changes
