Job Summary 
The Associate Director, Americas Infrastructure and Cloud Operations is responsible for the strategy, engineering, and operations of Eisai’s hosting infrastructure across on-premises data centers, AWS, and Azure. This role partners closely with the Global Cloud & Data Center Lead to deliver secure, compliant, and cost-effective cloud and infrastructure services, while supporting modernization, FinOps initiatives, and the Global Capability Center (GCC) operating model. 

 

Job Responsibilities 

Cloud & Data Center Operations 

  • Lead operations for cloud and hosting services, including compute, storage, backup, databases, disaster recovery, and infrastructure monitoring. 

  • Manage internal teams, contractors, and service providers supporting regional infrastructure services. 

  • Ensure service availability, operational excellence, lifecycle management, and SLA compliance. 

  • Drive cloud cost management, budgeting, forecasting, and optimization initiatives. 
     

Cloud Architecture & Engineering 

  • Lead implementation and operationalization of cloud and hosting solutions aligned with global standards. 

  • Ensure adoption of enterprise architecture, governance, security, and compliance frameworks. 

  • Review and approve infrastructure designs to meet business and regulatory requirements. 

  • Support Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automation, and platform standardization initiatives. 
     

Financial Ops & Financial Management 

  • Manage cloud financial performance across AWS and Azure. 

  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, cost allocation, showback/chargeback, and optimization efforts. 

  • Provide financial reporting, insights, and recommendations to regional leadership. 

  • Support vendor negotiations and cloud consumption planning. 
     

Global Capability Center (GCC) Enablement 

  • Partner with GCC leadership to deliver cloud engineering, infrastructure, and FinOps services. 

  • Support knowledge transfer, transition activities, and continuous improvement initiatives. 

  • Contribute to capacity planning and service evolution aligned with regional business needs. 
     

Leadership & Vendor Management 

  • Lead and develop cloud, data center, and FinOps teams, including matrix-managed resources. 

  • Manage managed service providers and technology partners to ensure delivery against SLAs and KPIs. 

  • Support workforce planning, talent development, and organizational growth. 

  • Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement. 
     

Required Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field. 

  • 8+ years of IT experience, including 3+ years in cloud architecture and technical leadership 

  • Hands-on expertise with AWS and Azure infrastructure, architecture, and operations. 

  • Strong knowledge of virtualization, storage, backup, databases, networking, disaster recovery, security, and compliance. 

  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, ARM), containers (Docker, Kubernetes), and DevOps/CI/CD practices. 

  • AWS and/or Azure Solutions Architect certification preferred. 

  • ITIL Foundation certification or equivalent IT service management experience. 

  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills. 

  • Proven experience leading teams, vendors, and large-scale infrastructure initiatives. 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience with FinOps tools and cloud cost management practices. 

  • Software development experience (Python, Perl, Shell, etc.). 

  • Experience in regulated environments such as pharmaceutical or life sciences. 

  • Experience working within onshore/offshore managed service models. 

  • Experience designing and delivering complex global cloud solutions. 

Position is hybrid in Nutley, NJ and requires working onsite 3 days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday)

Eisai Salary Transparency Language:

The annual base salary range for the Associate Director Infrastructure Cloud & Operations is from :$166,900-$219,000

Under current guidelines, this position is eligible to participate in : Eisai Inc. Annual Incentive Plan & Eisai Inc. Long Term Incentive Plan.

Final pay determinations will depend on various factors including but not limited to experience level, education, knowledge, and skills.

Skills Required

  • College diploma or university degree in computer science, information science, MIS, business administration, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 8+ years of overall experience in information technology
  • 3+ years of experience as a Cloud Architect
  • 2+ years of experience in technical leadership roles for enterprise-scale application architecture and delivery
  • AWS and/or Azure Solutions Architect certification(s)
  • ITIL Foundation certification with strong understanding of ITIL framework
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Deep functional and technical knowledge of cloud services (AWS and Azure)
  • Working knowledge of LDAP, Active Directory, SSO, Email Infrastructure, and Web Services
  • Experience designing and building infrastructure solutions across AWS, Azure, and data centers
  • Experience with AWS Control Tower and Azure Landing Zone designs
  • Experience with networking, firewalls, load balancers, storage, and compute in cloud and data center environments
  • Experience designing and configuring big data platforms (Cloudera, AWS EMR, AWS Glue, Databricks, RStudio)
  • Experience designing and implementing scalability, failover, high availability, DR, capacity planning, security, and compliance
  • Experience with backup and recovery tools
  • Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Linux, and container technologies
  • Experience with DevOps automation, CI/CD, Azure DevOps, CloudFormation, ARM templates, and GitHub
  • Performance monitoring and tuning experience
  • Experience with physical server and storage platforms (HP DL series, Sun SPARC, Dell PowerStore, Pure Storage, Dell IDPA) and fabric networking
  • Experience managing cloud financials/FinOps including tagging taxonomies, cost allocation, chargeback/showback, budgeting and cost optimization
  • Proven ability to lead and develop teams, including matrix-managed and offshore resources
