The Associate Director and Counsel, Asia Pacific will be a member of the Commercial Engines Legal, Contracts and Compliance (LCC) team, which plays a leadership role in the strategic support of Pratt & Whitney’s Commercial Engines (CE) business.  With more than 13,000 large commercial engines installed today, CE provides dependable power to hundreds of airlines and operators every day.

What You Will Do:

This role provides transactional support across all aspects of the CE business but with a focus on Pratt & Whitney’s entities and joint ventures in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region.  Responsibilities include drafting, negotiating and advising on complex agreements with customers, contract interpretations, handling local law issues, counterparty disputes, and advising on regulatory compliance and communications with customers, airframers, regulators, and program partners.  This role also provides legal counsel and support for corporate governance, global trade (export/import), employment and data privacy matters.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Juris Doctor or equivalent law degree

  • Admitted to practice in Singapore

  • 10+ years of post‑qualification experience in corporate and commercial law

  • Business-level proficiency with written and spoken English

  • Strong leader and team player with excellent judgment and professional maturity

  • Multi-task, manage multiple deadlines simultaneously, and provide guidance and practical solutions to cross-functional projects promptly and effectively

  • Work with minimal daily supervision to balance numerous priorities within compressed timeframes

  • Remain calm and composed under pressure, in a fast-paced environment of rapidly changing demands

  • Identify and assess risk exposure while advising business and functional leaders of the CE team in a practical manner to balance risks with business objectives

  • Lead, develop, and manage APAC legal team, fostering strong collaboration and stakeholder engagement

  • Assist in the development, implementation, enhancement and maintenance of RTX and Pratt & Whitney policies, procedures and internal guidance for compliance

  • Experience with negotiation and drafting in connection with complex transactions

  • Effectively manage outside counsel for certain significant or complex matters

  • Experience with an aerospace manufacturing environment preferred, but not required

  • Ability to travel to support business needs

  • Proficiency in additional languages, including Mandarin so as to liaise with Mandarin speaking stakeholders
