QualificationsJob Summary

Crystal seeks a full-time, exempt (1.0 FTE, 12-month) Associate Director of Alumni Relations. The Associate Director of Alumni Relations is warm, strategic, and highly organized. This role will help build lifelong relationships between the school and its alumni community. Reporting to the Director of Development, this role is responsible for leading and implementing a thoughtful alumni engagement program that fosters connection, pride, volunteerism, and participation.

The Associate Director will lead the planning and execution of alumni events and programs, support alumni communications and outreach, manage volunteer engagement efforts including reunion and class based initiatives, and serve as a key ambassador for Crystal with alumni across generations. This role is primarily focused on alumni engagement and relationship building, while contributing to the broader goals of the Advancement Office.

The ideal candidate is a strong relationship builder and project manager who brings excellent communication skills, sound judgment, attention to detail, and a genuine enthusiasm for community building. The strongest candidates will also bring a deep appreciation for Crystal’s mission, culture, traditions, and the distinctive role alumni play in the life of the school.

Alumni Engagement and Programming
  • Lead the planning and execution of alumni events and programs, including Reunion, regional gatherings, networking opportunities, volunteer initiatives, and other special events
  • Create meaningful opportunities for alumni to connect with one another, with students, and with the school
  • Serve as a visible and welcoming representative of Crystal with alumni and alumni families
  • Help foster lifelong alumni connection to Crystal’s mission, culture, and community across multiple generations of alumni
Volunteer Management
  • Recruit, support, and steward alumni volunteers, including reunion volunteers, class representatives, and other alumni leaders
  • Partner with volunteers to increase alumni outreach, event attendance, and peer to peer connection
  • Help develop volunteer structures and strategies that deepen alumni involvement across class years and regions
Communications and Outreach
  • Partner with Advancement colleagues on alumni communications across email, print, web, and social media channels
  • Contribute to alumni storytelling, event invitations, class communications, newsletters, and related outreach materials
  • Help ensure that alumni communications are timely, thoughtful, and aligned with the school’s voice and values
  • Support outreach strategies that keep alumni informed about Crystal, its priorities, and opportunities for engagement
Advancement Collaboration
  • Collaborate closely with Advancement colleagues to align alumni engagement efforts with broader departmental and institutional goals
  • Partner on stewardship, cultivation, and community building opportunities involving alumni and alumni parents
  • Help support a strong culture of philanthropy by strengthening long term alumni connection and participation
  • Coordinate with colleagues across campus when alumni programming intersects with students, faculty, arts, athletics, or other school priorities
Data, Planning, and Administration
  • Maintain accurate records of alumni engagement, volunteer activity, event participation, and outreach in the school’s database
  • Track key alumni engagement metrics and help assess the effectiveness of programs and strategies
  • Manage event logistics, RSVP tracking, vendor coordination, and related administrative details
  • Partner with Advancement Operations to support strong data practices and help ensure alumni records remain current and complete

Travel Required

Light travel between the Middle School and Upper School campuses, and occasional regional travel for events up to 3 times per year, as needed.

 

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Proficiency in non-profit CRMs (like Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge)

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Able to work in a dynamic environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a varied and diverse array of contacts
  • Able to lift up to 20 pounds
  • Able to climb stairs on occasion
  • Able to work at a desk and computer for extended periods

Salary and Benefits

This is an exempt, full-time, benefits-eligible, 12-month administrative staff position. The annual salary for this position is within the range of $100,000-$120,000.

The recruitment period will remain open until sufficient resumes have been received and may close at any time a sufficient pool of highly qualified candidates has been established. The ideal start date for this position is July 6, 2026.
