About the Role

Milan Laser is seeking an Assistant General Counsel to join its growing in-house Legal team. This role is well suited to an attorney with 1–3 years of experience who is looking to build a broad, hands-on practice inside a fast-moving, multi-state healthcare and consumer services company. The ACG will work closely with the General Counsel and cross-functional business partners on contract review and drafting, professional liability and employment practices litigation management, and corporate entity management across Milan's national footprint.

What You’ll Do

Contract Review & Drafting

  • Draft, review, revise, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including vendor, supplier, real estate/lease, marketing, technology, and services contracts
  • Identify and flag legal and business risk in contract terms; recommend redlines and alternative language
  • Maintain and improve contract templates, playbooks, and standard clause libraries
  • Track contract lifecycle milestones (renewals, expirations, key deadlines) and partner with business teams to ensure timely action

Professional Liability & Employment Practices Litigation

  • Support the management of professional liability claims and litigation, including coordination with outside counsel, insurance carriers, and internal stakeholders
  • Assist with employment practices matters, including EEOC charges, demand letters, and related litigation, from intake through resolution
  • Conduct legal research and draft memoranda analyzing exposure, defenses, and litigation strategy
  • Help gather, organize, and prepare documents and witnesses in response to discovery requests
  • Monitor claim and litigation status, budgets, and outcomes, and report trends to the General Counsel

Entity Management

  • Maintain good standing and compliance for Milan's corporate entities across all states of operation, including registered agent management, annual reports, and franchise tax filings
  • Prepare and maintain corporate governance records, including organizational documents, resolutions, and minute books
  • Support entity formation, qualification, dissolution, and restructuring as the business expands into new markets
  • Maintain the entity management database and ensure accuracy of ownership and organizational charts

General

  • Provide practical, business-oriented legal guidance to internal stakeholders across operations, HR, marketing, and finance
  • Assist the General Counsel with special projects and other legal matters as needed
  • Help identify process improvements to increase the efficiency of the Legal department

What We’re Looking For

  • J.D. from an accredited law school
  • Active license to practice law in good standing (Nebraska bar admission preferred, or ability to obtain reciprocity/waive in within a reasonable timeframe)
  • 1–3 years of relevant legal experience, whether in-house, law firm, or a combination
  • Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills
  • Solid understanding of civil litigation processes, including familiarity with discovery, claims handling, or employment-related disputes
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate legal concepts for non-legal audiences
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines simultaneously
  • Sound judgment, discretion, and a high level of integrity when handling sensitive and confidential information
