With Exelixis' continued growth and rapidly advancing pipeline, there is a need to recruit an Associate Commercial Strategy and Planning Director (Zanzalintinib). The position will report to the Senior Director, Commercial Strategy and Planning (CSP), and be accountable for contributing to cross-functional initiatives to advance the development of Zanzalintinib, Exelixis' oral multi-TKI in late-phase development. This position will provide critical information and advice to Exelixis leadership.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for driving and executing pipeline commercial analysis and strategic planning activities to inform key business decisions focused on Zanzalintinib.
- Lead commercial assessment and revenue forecast development for potential indications to inform Phase 3 Go/No-Go decisions and support business planning.
- Drive the planning, design, and execution of primary and secondary market research to support commercial opportunity assessments, revenue forecast assumptions, and key business questions across new tumor types and indications.
- Lead the development of treatment and competitive landscapes in key solid tumors to inform program development decisions.
- Partner with Development and other cross-functional stakeholders to drive TPP development and refinement.
- Provide comprehensive competitive intelligence to inform pipeline strategy and competitive positioning, including:
- Monitoring competitor and disease landscape news, clinical developments, data releases, earning releases, conference presentations, and other relevant external disclosures.
- Assessing the strategic implications of competitor activity, emerging data and changing standards of care.
- Generating alerts of key developments for stakeholders, including senior leadership.
- Attending relevant conferences and providing strategic summaries of key presentations that contextualize data with clinical and scientific benchmarks.
- Work cross-functionally with Commercial, Clinical Development, Translational Medicine, Medical Affairs, Finance and other functions to generate holistic, data-driven recommendations.
- Independently review and interpret clinical data for pipeline opportunities and assess competitive positioning and commercial implications.
- Define the appropriate analyses required to address key business questions and generate data-driven recommendations.
- Lead the interpretation and integration of complex analytical information, including primary and secondary data, forecasting, competitive intelligence, scenario planning, and other relevant sources of insight.
- Manage third-party vendors and contractors, including scoping, project oversight, deliverable review, timeline management, and ensuring high-quality execution of market research, competitive intelligence and other projects.
- Presentation of key deliverables to a broad range of stakeholders, including senior leadership.
- Influence cross-functional alignment by synthesizing diverse perspectives and helping guide teams toward strategic recommendations and decisions.
- May provide guidance, coaching and oversight to contractors and consultants on workstreams, deliverables and analytical approaches as needed.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education
- BS/BA degree in related discipline and a minimum of 11 years of related experience; or,
- MS/MA degree in related discipline and a minimum of 9 years of related experience; or,
- PhD in related discipline and a minimum of 5 years of related experience; or,
- Equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience
- Previous experience in life sciences strategy consulting or pharma/biotech commercial strategy, new product planning, commercial analytics or related strategic functions is highly desirable.
- Previous experience in new product evaluation is required, including experience developing revenue forecasts, market assessments, competitive landscapes, and strategic recommendations for pipeline or pre-launch assets.
- Prior oncology experience is highly desired, with specialty product experience required at a minimum.
- Experience developing cross-functional partnerships and collaborating with clinical stakeholders.
- Experience presenting to and influencing senior leaders and cross-functional decision-makers.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The base pay range for this position is $191,500 - $272,000 annually. The base pay range may take into account the candidate’s geographic region, which will adjust the pay depending on the specific work location. The base pay offered will take into account the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, experience and internal equity, among other factors.In addition to the base salary, as part of our Total Rewards program, Exelixis offers comprehensive employee benefits package, including a 401k plan with generous company contributions, group medical, dental and vision coverage, life and disability insurance, and flexible spending accounts. Employees are also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus program, or if field sales staff, a sales-based incentive plan.
