Associate Architect – BI & Analytics

Sysco LABS Sri Lanka delivers the technology that powers Sysco’s end-to-end operations. Sysco LABS’ enterprise technology is present in the end-to-end foodservice journey, enabling the sourcing of food products, merchandising, storage and warehouse operations, order placement and pricing algorithms, the delivery of food and supplies to Sysco’s global network and the in-restaurant dining experience of the end-customer. 

 

The Opportunity 

We are currently on the lookout for an Associate Architect – BI & Analytics to join our team. 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Participating in the system specification review process to ensure system requirements can be translated into software design 

  • Driving teams and ensuring the overall integrity of the software design and validating it against the system architecture 

  • Mentor and guide junior engineers on architectural decisions and technical implementation strategies 

  • Actively participating in business value assessment and business requirements elaboration phases 

  • Actively participating in the design and development phases to ensure the successful delivery of all Sysco Innovations projects 

  • Monitoring key results and generating metrics across the project portfolio 

  • Ensuring implementation of industry best practices for security, performance, and maintainability across reporting applications 

  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams including product, data engineering, and operations to translate requirements into architectural solutions 

  • Building strong relationships across the Sysco hierarchy and mentoring US and SL-based team members; identifying new opportunities to increase efficiencies and drive growth 

  • Designing enterprise-level reporting applications utilizing multiple programming frameworks including .NET, Java, and Python to meet diverse business requirements 

  • Ensuring cost optimization and resource efficiency across all AWS services utilized in the architecture 

  • Designing and architecting solutions that integrate Generative AI capabilities into enterprise reporting applications for enhanced insights and automation 

  • Evaluating and recommending appropriate GenAI models and frameworks (such as LLMs) to solve specific business reporting and analytics challenges 

  • Implementing RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) patterns for context-aware reporting and intelligent question-answering capabilities 

 

Requirements: 

 

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science from a recognized foreign or local university; a relevant Master’s Degree will be an added qualification 

  • A minimum of 10 years of work experience with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role 

  • Extensive experience working with and providing solutions for US Fortune 500 clients with significant on-site experience; experience working with offshore teams 

  • Demonstrate proficiency with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and leverage key services to optimize application deployment and performance. Design and implement containerized solutions using AWS Elastic Container Service (ECS) for orchestrated application deployment. 

  • Full Stack Development and Data Engineering expertise is a must. Experience with ERP integrations is an added advantage 

  • Experience in project estimation techniques, architecture and design patterns and performance engineering 

  • Excellent leadership and negotiation skills with the ability to clearly propose and articulate architecture and technology decisions 

  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services and architectural patterns will be advantageous
