The Role
Job Description

The CORE Power Team is seeking an enthusiastic Applications Engineer who will be responsible for the validation of high-performance DC-DC power converter products as well as working with FAEs and external customers to bring these products into production. Renesas’ advanced control architectures allow a challenging arena for Strong Engineers. The job entails working with cross functional groups to continually push the envelope of technology implemented in Renesas products.

The candidate will participate in the entire product development cycle of power management ICs, such as Buck Regulators, Boost and Buck-Boost Architectures, PMICS and multi-phase regulators. Primary responsibilities will include:

  • Power Controller and SPS Validation and Characterization
  • Technical Documentation (e.g. datasheet, application note, and design guidelines)
  • PCB schematic design and Layout review
  • Setup and execute Simplis simulations of power converter circuits and systems
  • Training of Field Applications Engineers as well as customer engineers.
  • Customer Support
  • System Level Testing and Characterization
  • Work closely with local and remote teams (FAEs, design/test/product/reliability engineering and marketing) to perform the tasks listed above.

Qualifications

  • A New College Graduate (NCG) with an MS or a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering; preferably with 0-2 years of applicable experience as an Application Engineer.  

  • Experience with DC/DC converters with a good understanding of multiphase buck converters is a must. (Dc-Dc converters, Buck, Interleaved Buck, multiphase buck, Control loop, Bode plots, VRM, Voltage regulators, Boost, buck-boost, 48V to core, isolated topologies)

  • Experience with Simplis, Matlab, Simulink, Cadence.

  • Understanding Eval Board, Validation, Characterization, Patents, and Architecture

  • Proficiency in using lab equipment including network analyzers, oscilloscopes and waveform generators.
