This position will be located at Deriva Energy Headquarters located in Charlotte, NC.

Position Summary

This position is responsible for the 2nd level of technical engineering and troubleshooting expertise for the desktop environment, and would include expertise in networking protocols, desktop security, and a deep understanding of the Microsoft Desktop Operation Systems (O/S) and application interaction.  The position is primarily responsible for defining, implementing, documenting, communicating, and supporting desktop configurations within Deriva Energy.  This individual is also responsible for defining repeatable processes to implement and to manage the desktop hardware and Operating System. The desktop environment supported by this position includes: managing Active Directory computer objects, investigating Group Policy settings applied to users and computers, providing scripting functions in support of Group Policy and workstation image creation along with the processes and procedures used for image maintenance. This support also includes tools or scripts to update any existing or new desktop O/S.

This individual is also responsible for participating and collaborating with others on desktop hardware strategies, guiding principles, and technology roadmaps, especially in the area of operational impacts of new technology. This position provides technical expertise, testing of ideas and solutions, and other assistance as needed during a project.  In addition to setting a strategic operation direction, this position plays a key role in the implementation of industry best practices. This individual is considered the highest level for desktop problem resolution and support and assists others as needed on resolution of desktop issues. This candidate is also responsible for providing guidance and technical expertise to other 3rd-level support technical specialists.

Responsibilities

  • Consulting Services - includes desktop consulting for end users, application teams, IT Security, and Network Systems Management and Integration Services.

  • Technical Support – includes desktop support for end users and 2nd level support for the enterprise service desk.

  • Software support for enterprise applications including, but not limited to M365, Windows 11, middleware (Java, Adobe etc.) and limited first level support for business applications.

Basic Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree from a two-year college or technical school or high school diploma

  • In lieu of an Associate's degree, 2 (2) years or more of relevant working experience

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science related field

  • Three (3) years or more years of job-related experience

  • Microsoft Certifications

  • Microsoft Application integration understanding and experience

  • Demonstrated ability to recognize and resolve Cyber threats, virus containment and other events that would compromise Progress Energy’s desktop assets

  • Scripting skills and tool usage a plus (Powershell. Python, etc)

  • iO/S support

  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve end user problems related to the workstation

  • Hands-on technical skills for lab testing, proof of concepts, and implementations

  • Demonstrated ability to provide operational customer service

  • Proven experience in security and networking

  • Demonstrated strong teamwork, interpersonal and communications skills

  • Understanding of Azure AD and Intune management
