Evaluate policies on quality and integrity of currency and recommend strategies aiming to improve quality standard of currency in circulation while keeping counterfeiting threats at a minimum and supervise operational activities for the section especially internal and external quality assessment, counterfeit authentication, forensic examination, and laboratory management.
Responsibilities- Policy formulation: Formulate, review and propose update to policies related to quality and integrity of currency from time to time to maintain good quality of currency in circulation and reduce counterfeiting threats.
- Quality and counterfeit management: Supervise assessment by Administrative Officer and/or Clerical Officer on quality of currency in circulation, authentication of suspected counterfeit currency submitted by law enforcement agencies, forensic examination on currency, and other relevant activities. This includes providing insight, analysis and recommendation on issues or unusual discoveries to facilitate decision making process.
- Market intelligence: Analyse counterfeiting trends and development in Malaysia, identify the latest currency security features and propose recommendations for their adoption, where necessary, to enhance protection on currency notes and currency coins, and facilitate deliberations on quality and integrity issues.
- Research and innovation: Undertake research and analysis on the technical aspects of currency, including conducting material performance and in-lab simulations, to ensure the quality and integrity of currency remains robust. This may include simulating security features to assess robustness from counterfeiting attack.
- Budget management: Manage the budget for the section, including annual planning, expenditures tracking, and optimizing resource allocation for currency quality and counterfeit management activities.
- Others: Undertake administrative functions and other ad hoc assignments assigned from time to time.
- Academic Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, technology, or any related field with relevant working experience.
- Experience: At least 3 years of previous experience in currency operations, with strong knowledge on currency printing, currency security features, currency quality and counterfeit management, and technical research works would be an added advantage.
- License/Certification: Valid license/certification received from any authorised body in science, engineering and technical field would be an added advantage.
Skills Required

- Strong knowledge of currency printing, currency security features, currency quality, and counterfeit management
- Experience in technical research work
