Position Description

The Associate Accountant performs business, financial, and operations analysis impacting operating results, and supports the middle/senior management decision-making processes.  Additionally, this person applies principles of accounting to record accounting transactions, analyze financial information and prepare financial reports.  Excellent analytical, computer software and communications skills are required.  This position reports to the Sr. Accounting Manager.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries to general ledger accounts and document business transactions
  • Prepare monthly financial statements for selected business units and departments
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations and revenue/expense account analyses
  • Determine proper handling of financial transactions and process as assigned
  • Provide support to assigned business unit managers during the budgeting process
  • Routine interaction with operating personnel from remote locations
  • Work closely with operations and provide insight to ensure accurate and timely month-end closing
  • Prepare analysis of financial results using both established and ad hoc reports
  • Review, research, and correct inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports
  • Handle special projects and other assignments as requested, including supporting Sr. Accountants
  • Assist with contract rate reviews and billing audits as assigned.  Some travel required.
  • Assist the billing team with customer billing
  • Adhere to Company policies and procedures
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to the mission and values of the organization

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree from an accredited university, Accounting major preferred
  • Previous experience with general ledger accounting including account analysis, reconciliations and month-end closing a plus.
  • Knowledge of 3PL and transportation operations desirable
  • Proficient knowledge and passion for computer applications (MS Office required) (ERP, Microsoft Dynamics, Sigma a plus)
  • Attention to detail and analytic proficiency
  • Organized and detail-oriented with an ability to work independently
  • Ability to work with a diverse set of management styles and personalities
  • Strong interpersonal skills and effective oral and written communication skills
