The Associate Account Director in Japan is a strategic account leader and commercial owner responsible for driving sustainable revenue growth, deep client partnerships, and long-term business planning across a defined portfolio of priority agency and advertiser relationships. This role supports the Global Pod model by ensuring clear ownership, focused prioritization, and strong alignment across stakeholders. 

WHAT YOU’LL DO: 

A client services pro, you’re comfortable managing and growing lots of agency accounts, and able to prioritise between a hundred different things at once. You love learning new technology and teaching it to others. You’re as comfortable diving into Excel to improve a campaign as you are with taking an agency out for dinner. You’re a self-starter and can set your own priorities. 

Commercial Ownership & Growth 

  • Own and drive revenue growth across a defined portfolio of priority accounts
  • Identify and convert upsell and cross-sell opportunities across channels, data, and measurement
  • Track and manage quarterly and annual revenue performance
  • Build structured account plans including growth drivers and risk areas 

Strategic Client Leadership 

  • Act as a trusted strategic advisor to senior agency and client stakeholders
  • Shape mid to long-term investment strategy beyond campaign execution
  • Influence client direction toward data-driven, programmatic-first approaches 

Platform & Solution Consultancy 

  • Translate The Trade Desk capabilities into client business outcomes
  • Provide strategic recommendations aligned to campaign performance and growth
  • Identify opportunities across channels such as CTV, display, and data activation etc. 

Team Collaboration & Development 

  • Maintain clear internal reporting and alignment between CS and Sales
  • Help build the Client Services practice, by creating training materials, best practices, sales materials and customer facing guides. 

WHO YOU ARE: 

  • Significant experience in digital advertising, media, or adtech, with a strong track record in client-facing roles. 
  • Deep understanding of programmatic advertising, data-driven marketing, and measurement solutions.
  • Commercially minded, with experience managing and growing complex agency or advertiser relationships.  
  • Proven ability to build credibility with senior stakeholders and influence strategic business decisions.  
  • Strong consultative selling, negotiation, and relationship management skills.  
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize effectively, navigate ambiguity, and make sound business decisions.  
  • Analytical and data-driven, with the ability to translate insights into actionable client strategies and business outcomes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Japanese and English.
