Job Description:

The Associate Network Planning Analyst supports the Network Planning Team by helping plan the capacity Southwest Airlines flies in each schedule through performance and flight schedule analysis. They’ll analyze key performance indicators, explain trends and variances, and support operational and financial decision‑making while developing a foundational understanding of airline scheduling and optimization. They’ll combine multiple data sources to deliver clear, well‑communicated analyses and recommendations. The Associate Network Planning Analyst partners with internal Commercial Teams and external airport stakeholders to influence network decisions that drive performance, growth, and long‑term business strategy.

Responsibilities
  • Learn in a Team environment and individually to understand basic skills needed in Network Planning
  • Learn data sources, analysis methods, and calculations of key schedule, commercial, and operational metrics for gaining a baseline knowledge of how flight schedule decisions impact the different Teams across the Company
  • Learn to analyze the impact of changes to operational and commercial constraints in the schedule
  • Use data analytical tools including simulation and forecasting to evaluate and recommend efficiencies for schedule and operational improvements
  • Gather data to communicate business insights and realistic solutions
  • Seek opportunities to innovate, improve Network Planning processes, and implement efficiencies
  • May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong analytical and software skills required; familiarity with data querying or reporting tools
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for moving people or goods by air, rail, sea, or road, including the relative costs and benefits
  • Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, the financial markets, banking and the analysis and reporting of financial data
  • Ability to identify complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
  • Ability to transform raw data into easily understood, presentable and actionable findings
  • Ability to understand the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making

Education
  • Required: High School Diploma or GED
Experience
  • Entry-level experience, developing skills and knowledge in:
    • Microsoft Office suite
    • Microsoft Excel
  • Preferred: Aviation or analytical experience 
  • Preferred: Airline scheduling
  • Preferred: Experience in Tableau and Diio Mi
Licensing/Certification

Physical Abilities
  • Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area] for extended periods of time
  • Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
  • Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job
Other Qualifications
  • Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986

Pay & Benefits:

Competitive market salary from $63,700 per year to $70,800 per year* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the company.
