The Role

The Assistant Vice President, Strategy and Finance will play a critical, high-impact role in shaping the future of JM Family Holdings. This dynamic leader will spearhead the strategic planning and financial strategy processes, uncovering growth opportunities and driving key priorities that propel the company forward. By leading financial modeling, accounting, and reporting activities, you will ensure the smooth execution of the company’s ambitious vision. Additionally, you’ll leverage JM Family’s strong culture to seamlessly onboard acquisitions and empower associates to embrace and uphold the iconic JM Family Way, ensuring sustained success and growth across the organization.

Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning & Execution:

  • Lead the development and execution of the company’s strategic and long-range planning cycle, ensuring alignment with business objectives.

  • Drive the prioritization of strategic initiatives that will deliver the greatest impact across JM Family Holdings.

  • Spearhead Quarterly Executive Meetings with leadership to assess and refine strategy.

Financial Strategy & Planning:

  • Lead the development and execution of the company’s financial strategy, ensuring it aligns with business goals.

  • Drive long-term financial planning, including forecasting, budgeting, and capital allocation.

  • Provide critical financial insights to executive leadership and stakeholders to inform strategic decisions.

Financial Reporting & Analysis:

  • Oversee the preparation of consolidated financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.

  • Analyze financial performance across the business portfolio, identifying areas for improvement and potential risks.

  • Monitor and report on key financial metrics, liquidity, and profitability of the company and its subsidiaries.

Cross-Company Collaboration:

  • Act as a communication funnel to JM Family Holdings’ operating companies, creating a regular cadence for best practice sharing and data alignment.

  • Supervise month-end financial activities, including flash reports, trial balance, reporting packages, trustees, EVA, and financial review meetings.

  • Coordinate strategic plans for JM Family Holdings Operating Platforms, ensuring alignment with the broader company strategy.

Growth & Risk Management:

  • Identify growth opportunities and areas for operational improvement across platforms and other operating companies.

  • Provide guidance on navigating uncertainty and risks to ensure business resilience and agility.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in strategy and finance roles

  • At least 5 years of Director+ level leadership experience, managing teams

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA preferred

  • Ability to travel as needed

  • In-depth knowledge of financial strategy, reporting, and analysis

  • Strong judgment, problem-solving, and analytical skills

  • Strategic thinker with a long-term vision and business acumen

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills to engage with stakeholders at all levels

  • Ability to model and promote the JM Family Way core values and leadership principles
