We are seeking a talented individual to join our Advisory Team at Marsh. This role will be based in Hong Kong.
Marsh is the world's leading insurance broker and risk advisor and we are hiring an independent engineer to join our risk engineering and consulting team based in Hong Kong. To complement our clients’ insurance program, we provide risk engineering advice on our client’s insured properties to help them understand their risk profile and find areas to improve for decreasing the likelihood and severity of incidents which may result in a claim.
The responsibilities of this role include all aspects of running and coordinating property/liability loss control and engineering projects. This may involve providing clients with advice and expertise on hazard and operational risks, natural hazards and integrity of building and other assets.
We will count on you to:
- Conduct onsite and desktop risk surveys across clients' assets to identify hazards, exposures and existing controls
- Conduct risk identification and gap analysis on the assets' protection systems (such as fire protection system, property management protocol) and building service systems, comparing them against local HK regulations (Code of Practice) and/or global standards (such as NFPA, FM)
- Produce clear, timely technical reports including practical, cost-effective recommendations and where appropriate conduct loss estimations
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to meet agreed deadlines and submission requirements
- Address clients' engineering questions or concerns promptly and effectively
- Develop subject matter expertise in a designated area
- Assist with loss investigations, root-cause analysis and claims trend identification to inform risk advice
- Support business development by identifying advisory opportunities and helping to promote the advisory service offering
- Maintain up-to-date technical knowledge and contribute to continuous improvement of tools, templates and technical guidelines
What you need to have:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, such as Building Services Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Fire Safety Engineering or equivalent
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in engineering, preferably in building services, property, or facility management
- Strong grounding in property risk management, building construction, building services, fire protection and security system
- Excellent technical report writing and presentation skills with the ability to summarize complex issues concisely
- Excellent communication skills in both verbal and written English and Chinese
- Strong analytical, judgement and problem-solving skills
- Organized, able to manage own workload and meet reporting deadlines
- Client-focused with commercial awareness and ability to identify business opportunities
- Professional qualifications in engineering will be an advantage
