The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Worcester Polytechnic Institute invites applications for a full-time, Assistant Teaching Professor position. Candidates who have previous experience in activities to educate a broad and diverse group of students are preferred. This position is a one-year appointment with an anticipated start date between September 1 and September 15, 2026.JOB DESCRIPTION
We are seeking outstanding applicants in chemistry and/or biochemistry. We are particularly interested in candidates who have demonstrated a passion for teaching and mentoring students and bring high-quality, rigorous, innovative, and inclusive pedagogical teaching methods into the classroom.
Teaching responsibilities may include general chemistry lectures and labs, as well as biochemistry laboratories (enzymology, protein characterization, and protein engineering). This hire is expected to teach the equivalent of six seven-week courses this academic year. Preference will be given to candidates also willing to advise or co-advise senior research projects. The visiting professor will be supported to engage in scholarship and professional development activities as opportunities permit.
Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry or a related field and experience teaching undergraduates. The successful candidate will be committed to excellence in mentoring undergraduate students and other accomplishments and include endorsements from references.

Skills Required
